1-2-04 GDT Canes vs Wings

Lets hope the Boys start the year off the right way. Those pesky Blues just wont go away. So there are two important points. The Canes are having a hard time socring goals. Only 67 goals in 37 games.

Wings 4 (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Yzerman, Dandenault)

Canes 0

The Canes have been a major disappoint to me...I thought they'd get back into the playoffs with a healthy lineup and they bolstered their defense in the offseason. Games against Detroit can be springboards for struggling teams if they win but I think they are too much of a mess right now to be a threat to the Wings. They can't take them lightly though.

Your not the only one. I thought the Canes would win the SouthEast. Their team defence has been pretty good, but can not score at all. Maybe they need to make a trade or two to improve thier scoring.

I think Cujo wouldnt mind playing in this game after getting shelled vs. Atlanta. Man I couldnt imagine how much offense they would have if Heatley were in the lineup. It would be nuts.

2-0 Wings after the first.....

Datsyuk blasts one five hole on Weekes from a poor angle, he should of saved it. And Yzerman tipped in a Lidstrom point shot on the PP. Good first period.

Wow, those are some huge saves by Storr on Kronwall and Holmstrom as he steps in for Weekes.

Edit: What a goal by Draper! SH breakaway.

I wave the white flag. Damn, I wonder when the Canes will get their heads out of their *****. This team hasn't looked right in 2 months.

After stonewalling the Canes during a 6 on 3 during about the last 2 minutes (and playing a good game all around), remind me again why it was so damn imperative to get Hasek back.

Well, I missed the first two goals, but caught them on the replay...what a sweet shot by Pasha...he put some power behind that shot, didn't he? And Stevie was in the right place at the right time.

Drapes? My God, has he been taking puck handling lessons from Pasha? Sure did look like it...and that second goal was just pure determination.

All in all a good night, and hopefully they can continue it tomorrow night against Sergei and the guys, who lost tonight in Buffalo.

Because too many people blame Cujo solely for last years playoffs.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, keep Cujo, trade Hasek.
