Ducks rivalry with the Kings

Am I the only one that felt the Sharks had a bigger rivalry with the Ducks than the Kings had last season? Still the Kings are the Ducks cross town rival, but last season felt we weren't even in the same league anymore although I believe the Kings won a handful of games against the Ducks. The losses didn't have much of an impact to the Ducks tablesituation and therefor the games against the Sharks felt more important IMO.

This year the Kings will be better I think. If they will, the rivalry between the Ducks and the Kings will be brought back to life, at least in my book. But maybe you guys think the rivalry between the teams has been the same even though the class differance?

I guess for those who lives in the LA/Anaheim area, the rivalry was never close to be gone... But for me who lives in Sweden, it's not the same. For me, the Sharks and the Red Wings are just as much rivals with the Ducks as the Kings are. Detroit is the personally rival, as my two latest girlfriends got "stolen" by Red Wings fans. Thank you Ducks for beating that crappy team up in the playoffs, it felt almost as good as seeing Teemu holding the cup

Teamwise, the Sharks were more of a threat to us than the kings were. And the reason why we lost a handful of games to the kings is simply because we don't even try against them. It seems like we never try at all against the bottom-feeding teams from last season.

However fanwise, the kings and the Ducks have some of the most avid fans when it comes to the whole cross-town rivalry thing. Ducks fans have shown their disdain for kings fans because many of them are oakland raiders fans and even I will admit to that. Many kings fans are classless, with the exception of a few, but still....

Sharks have been more of a rival since the lockout because almost all the games have meant something for both teams. Whoever we play in the playoffs first I think will become the top rival but either way we can always throw it in their faces the Ducks won the cup first

That's not nice, but who cares the Ducks earned the right to do that

Hate the Kings becuase of their fans. Hate the Sharks because of their fans, the area, and the players (mostly Cheechoo, that sack of crap has like 5 hat tricks against the Ducks).

For now the sharks are our rivals in my eyes yet it still feels worse losing to the kings and then having to take the walk of shame to your car.

The Kings are our top rival despite their lackluster performance the last few seasons. The games are always entertaining...even the rookie games. After that, I would say Detroit mainly due to our playoff history. The Sharks won't be our rivals until we face them in a heated playoff matchup.

I actually like Detroit because a lot of their fans have class. And Babcock was the Ducks' former coach as well. I wish them well, but not too well

Yeah the Kings weren't anywhere close to your Ducks and yet they split the series. Every game being deceided by one goal.

Yeah, there were several games the Ducks played down to the level of their opponent last season for some reason...they split the season series with the Jackets too, got embarrassed by the Flyers and Blues to name a few examples. But they had the best record, in terms of wins and points, against all other seven WC playoff teams. And they won the Cup. So if they took off a few nights and lost to the Kings, I'll take that trade off any day.

I'm sure the players got up just as much for the Kings and Jackets as they did for SJ and Detroit

If you'll notice, the Ducks should beat the Kings more often than not because the Kings flat out sucked last season and the Ducks were the Cup champions. Going 4-4 against such a bottom feeder is shameful to the Ducks and us, their fans. We expect the Ducks to kick your team's ***** this year and not play down to them, just for our delight.

the Kings are our big "rivals" but honestly I get more into the Redwings games when they come to town, not just because they are better than the Kings, but because of the sea of Redwings fans that show up to our home games...

No, but I have eyes. Some of the Ducks worst games last season were games against teams who did not make the playoffs.

no you didnt, your goon team won. you didnt do ANYTHING. At the game i had this guy sitting behind me yelling to the team," spread your wings and fly ducks, fly harder then you have ever before." I almost died after this. Other people were saying things just as moronic and it was hard not to lose my ****. Perry, Parros, Pronger, Getzlaf, Moen, Dienta, May, Pahlsson. These guys are difficult to watch. Why did Pahlsson get nominated for best defensive forward over alfredsson?
