he's ready physically, but still can't play. again, this is the reason why i agreed with AM at all about setting a timetable. the doctors say he's good and ready to go, but he, for some reason, is stopping himself. i say stop taking him to head doctors and take him to a shrink. not that i think he's lying, but there is a chance that he could be so emotionally scarred from the previous head injury that he thinks that something is there when it isn't. it's a slim chance, but why not try that angle.

Sounds a lot like what happened to Oleg Tverdovsky last year. Every doctor had cleared him to go, but Oleg pulled himself out of the lineup saying he didn't feel right, which is the main reason he wasn't qualified and ultimately ended up in Russia this year.
Ableedingmazing! So totally frustrating. You can't blame Murray or anyone for that toss at being frustrated or upset by this. I would doubt that Allison is lying, I just have a hard time believing the worst in people (unlike some) but damned if this isn't starting to look dodgy.
I suppose, that this means that any and every player can and should simply be able to say "I am not ready or I don't feel right" and have them get paid not to work. That said, I can't imagine that anyone who is being paid to play a pro sport wouldn't rather be playing. Unless there were some behind the doors problem between Allison and the Kings and he were sticking it to them this way as a way to have a piss at them I can see no reason why he wouldn't be telling the truth. When he plays he gets media attention and the adoration of thousands of hockey fans around the world. When he sits he draws allot of doubts along with his huge check.
Here's hoping he "feels" better and comes back soon and puts this all to an end. I do wonder though, after his troubles with his last team if this isn't some sort of a power trip for Ally but as I said, I have a hard time believing it possible.
Basically, in this article, Allison calls Murray a liar:
Quote:
The Kings now have a situation in which their highest-paid player has called out the coach as a liar.
Allison, who over the weekend had a recurrence of symptoms from his post-traumatic migraine syndrome, has been irritated by Murray's comments to the media and a perceived lack of support from the coach regarding the forward's 11-month recovery.
In particular, Allison took issue with Murray's statement that doctors have said Allison could play whenever he feels ready.
"I'll address that later," Allison said at the team's El Segundo training facility of his feelings about Murray, "because that was ... I'm trying to think of the proper words ... that's just something, to me, that is just wrong.
"Some of the stuff was kind of ... basically it was a lie, because no doctor I saw said I could play. But I'll address that later. I'll talk about it once and that's it. There's too much going on with the team to be a distraction."
Allison also thinks Murray hasn't been particularly supportive. The coach's assertion that Allison would return sometime around Christmas -- "Nobody else is setting a timetable, so I figured I should," Murray said -- didn't sit well with Allison.
"There's a chance I might not be able to play this year," Allison said. "Before, I was trying to make sure I got back so I could play 60 games. And then it was 50, and then it was 40. Basically now I'd be really happy just to make it back at all. I've got to be realistic about it."
"With how long it's been, there's a chance I might not be able to play this year," he said.
"Basically, right now I'd be really happy just to make it back at all. I have to be realistic about it and obviously it's going to take more time on the rehab end of it than I thought."
Allison said when he feels better, he'll ease back into shape in hopes he can avoid triggering the symptoms.
This has gone from bad to worse... we may not see Allison this year.
I certainly hope he will be back, and not for any silly pool reasons either. A healthy, producing Allison would relly cement the Kings playoff aspirations.
"no doctor said i could play"??? wtf, i remember earlier in the year that he WAS in fact cleared to play contact hockey. funny there was no response then... and why the hell would AM lie? that's stupid.
i dont exactly know wat the heck is going on behind the scenes, but this is frustrating me
I don't bloody know who is right or wrong here but one thing has my knicks bunched. Is this Allisons last year under contract with us?
If it is, then it is time, regardless of what happens to move onto the next "solution" for me when it is over. He is a dominant player when on the ice without a doubt. He is paid top dollar for his services. There has to be something that we don't have the privy of knowing behind the scenes that makes it to where *two* seperate coaches have questioned Allisons desire or drive to win or play the game. The same things were being said about him in Boston that are being said here. The same kind of controversy is happening again. (although with a bit different circumstances).
I blame Andy for ever talking to the media about this its true but that doesn't mean that there isn't a reason for his public questioning of Allison.
I also think that most of the bloody idiots who can't let a day go by without asking the Kings (coaches, players, media, etc.) about when Allison would be back are largely to blame as well. I mean, when I were there I would listen to "Kings talk" after a game and christ beside me if *EVERY BLEEDING CALLER* wouldn't ask *ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE TEAM* (nick, daryl or anyone who would be a guest) about when Allison were coming back. What is Murray supposed to do, ignore it for a year when he is asked all the time? Is he supposed to be superhuman and not get frustrated as well? I blame him for talking to the media about the situation. I blame *all of the bloody fools among us* who couldn't live one bleeding minute without calling in and asking about when Allison would be back or walking up to Murray and the rest at any chance and doing the same. We created this situation by doing so and it is shameful of us as well as bloody stupid.
Allison, for my probably incorrect take, by saying that he will talk about that once and later is basically saying that he will talk about this when the Kings try to re sign him. I doubt he will come back and for our sakes, I think it might be time to cut bait.
I love having Allison on the ice, he is an incredible player and a difference maker without a doubt. I think though, that at this point, why should we wait any longer for him? He has said that he would be happy just skating again and I agree. He might not ever come back to the game or to the Kings anyways. Spend the money and try to find us another Top line Pivot. If Allison comes back then move Stumpel to wing or deal him and Allison center another line.
I know that it is easier said then done at finding centers but right now, there are a few that are available and I would rather gamble with them than with Allison if he feels that he might not make it back and that if he does he is going to be pissy at his coach then maybe it is time.
I am ranting and probably just having a piss but it is certainly frustrating to read this tripe in the papes. I thought these were men we were talking about, not some hen out having a scratch and squaking about private issues. Gordon Bennette that is straife pisser and as a fan, I have had my fill.
I know is may sound stupid, but maybe now Allison is having panic attacks when he gets on the ice. Anyone who has ever had them knows they can come on even when you don't "feel" particularly stressed. They can be caused by something in the back of your mind, which probably is the case with Allison. Panic attacks can most certainly make you dizzy and light headed and quite generally " not quite right." I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but maybe this isn't a physical thing, which some of you have already alluded to.
Physically, a player may stop experiencing headaches and such. This may be why the doctors cleared him for contact again. But remember what Pat Lafontaine went through. For a long time, he said he didn't feel right. Things didn't taste the same and such. He was moody all the time, etc. I think Allison may be going through the same after effects. The doctors may have cleared him but IMO, the player is the only person who can determine whether he is alright.
Screw Allison. Trade him for whatever we could get for him. The guy obviously doesn't want to be a King anymore.
Agreed. But we cant trade him. Nobody wants him. Its time for this guy to stop being such a P*ssy and suck it up. I dont see how you can be out a year and a half. Is he getting paid still? If he is he's probably just taking the easy way and not having to do s*it and still get paid. Im sick and tired of it. It would be alot easier if he just said "NO Im not playing" and we can move on w/ our lives.
