Nice article on Carter

Glad to see the boy's thinking about next year's 40 goal season. I know we say it every year, but I think this upcoming year is going to be gold for him.

I hope so. Ive kind of lost hope on him myself, I just don't see the potential that others do. However, he still has lots of time to grow so who knows.

I’ve just been following Jimmy [McCrossin’s] workout program that he gave us at the end of last year.
We're screwed.

my biggest criticism on carter has always been that for a big guy, he plays pretty soft. he has a wicked shot, if he can ever let it go without being manhandled by a bigger defenseman. maybe this is the season we see him reach his potential?

i think it was too much to handle for him last year, richards also. less pressure and more leadership this year means breakout seasons for both. hopefully we can get them extensions before seasons end.

Getzlaf was only tough because of Penner.

“I’ve just been following Jimmy [McCrossin’s] workout program that he gave us at the end of last year. For myself, I think I needed to put on some weight, some strength and some size,” said Carter. “I think the program that Jimmy gave us has really helped out. I’ve put on some weight and I feel pretty good.”

Why? He is 6'3 200lbs. Size, strength, skating was not a problem.

Why not shot the puck 500 times a day and try to hit the net. That was the problem. That and some passing skill. Everything else looked good.

nice to see him there early agreed. I would like to see Richards Umberger Upshall and a few others there now also, it is almost disappointing that they aren't

Don't worry, it can be cured by a tear from Donovan McNabb's mother mixed with a drop of Jeff Garcia's blood.

haha, i saw your little flamefest with that guy in the penner thread. since when does big mean tough? case in point, carter, who has the size to be a punishing checker, but rarely uses it.

i dont recall mario lemieux being a tough guy, but at 6'4 230lbs, he wouldnt be called small.

back on topic, i wouldnt be surprised if this "i wanna put on 20lbs" carter pulls a groin or springs a hernia bulking up. mccrossin needs to go.

Maybe Carter just got tired of getting beat up by Richards when they were living together (maybe the still are) and decided to get swoll. I mean, they would probably go to the bars together and bring back two women and Richards would fight him over the hotter one.

He just got tired of banging the fat friend, is all.

200 lbs is definitely a problem for a 6'3" NHL player who was dominant in juniors because of his size. Ovechkin and Vinny are both 220-225 and Carter needs to get closer to that range to make an impact the way he should. I agree that he needs to make his shot go in more, but to say his size isn't an issue is foolish.
