I guess they found a replacement for Souray's blunders.

Brisebois is bad, no doubt about that. He started year 1 with the Avs all right, but he's been terrible for a year and a half since. He stopped putting up the points that made him somewhat useful. Now he's just an offensive defenceman who's terrible in his own end who doesn't put up points.

seems like he's still good enuff to be in Montreal's top 4 since Souray and Rivet are gone.....he will probably enjoy hearing the fans boo Hamrlik for his ridiculous salary.
I figured Brisebois would retire cus I'm not sure if he could make any other team in the NHL

It's not that Breezer is bad its that the media and fans in Montreal get on his back and some people can't handle the pressure thats why Montreal kills players and when they leave Montreal they do good.

Breezeby is still the funniest nickname I've ever seen.

Did you ever see Brisebois play for the Avs?

It may be true that players can't handle the pressure in Montreal, but if that's the case, they broke Brisebois' permanently.

the risk with briesbois is he had a severe injury that cost him more than 1/2 of last season, and how will that affect his game, since his skills are his bread and butter.

Not Theodore.

Nor Muller, for that matter.

i wouldn't want him back. and he's not a top 4 in Montreal...komo/markov/hamerlik and take your pick of streit, dandenault, bouillon are all ahead of him...

that being said, the guy lives in Montreal, played 14 years here and may want to retire a hab. it wasn't as much the fans, as it was the French press - breezeby was quoted as saying something like 'i like playing in Denver because it's as far away from you guys (the French press) as possible'. that's why I'd be surprised he came back. but as i said, he's a local guy who played 95% of his career here.

He actually scored a career high in PTS in Colorado.. so even though his defensive game was the same as always.. he was useful enough.

As for having him back.. I'd take him in a heartbeat. It's one year, it lets him say goodbye to hockey in his home province.. and it gives us a better option for the 2nd PP unit. He'd only be playing 3rd pairing minutes.. so it's not a bad move. Him and Bouillon have better chemistry than Bouillon and Dandy.. They were the first pairing here for a couple years.

I thought of that. Too many bodies, especially veteran bodies.

This is kind of how I feel about Brisebois. If we brought him back in a Niinimaa role (injury fill-in and stopgap #6 defenseman) I think he'd do fine.
While I don't think Montreal owes him anything for it, people forget he was a very solid part of the Cup team and for many years thereafter. I guess I just feel bad the way the people run him out of town because of his contract (way to go Rejean) and the France incident. His play didn't merit as much booing as it got.
