I think he'll stay in North America if he makes the team but he'd rather take another year in Sweden rather than playing in AHL. I think he could do good for your team in this year though. He'd be a lot better in the top 6 than Amonte now that Sullivan is injured that's for sure!
I think with Sullivan being out until at least December, Hornqvist will get a very strong look at training camp if no one is signed before that, or if a Jeff O'Neill or Mike Johnson type fails to impress in a tryout situation.
He is supposed to be going back to Sweden for one more year. Next year he will be in North America. That's what I heard. He is a good player though. I wish he could be convinced to go ahead and jump on with the NHL club, and then let the org. decide who to send down once Sully returns.
Could he go back to Sweden in mid-December? If so, that seems like it could be an option to let him play up at the nhl while sully is out and then go back rather than down when sully is back. Top 6 for a rookie with no ahl experience is a tall order though.

I think if he made the roster out of camp, he would be much more amenable to playing in Milwaukee and being in a first call-up situation.....if and when Sully returns to play.
I doubt going back to Sweden for half the year would be desirable, or even possible.....maybe one of our European posters can clarify on this possibility.

Yes, a player can be reassigned to a European team at any point in the season, but is ineligble to return to the NHL until both his European team has finished their season and he clears re-entry waivers.
Hornqvist btw is leading scorer at Nordic Trophy with 5(2g+3a) points in 4 games. He also has +3 rankings and 35 PIMS(25 PIMS for a fight in last game).
Nordic Trophy is the most prestigious Summer Tournament in Europe.

Let's really pray that either he or Setzinger makes the team. A half of season with Fiddler or Tootoo on the top line and on the powerplay would be horrible. Though even if one of these guys should make the team, there it would not suprise me to see Trotz use them as 4th liners and let Fiddler still on the top line.
I think we'll see Setzinger get a shot before Hornqvist does, unless Hornqvist really changes his mind about playing in North America this season. He does have a chance now to get some top 6 minutes if he can prove himself in camp. However, I think Setzinger finally coming over means he wants to give it a shot. Supposedly he's been playing on the wing the past few seasons.
