Flyers-Devils double-header

OK! Actually it's one Flyers-Devils game and one Phantoms-Lowell (or Lil') Devils game but how often do you get to see a hockey twin-bill. I'm there!!

Good stuff. I may be doing a hockey triple-header on December 29. Flyers are in Tampa Bay and that same day/night, at the same arena, is a college hockey doubleheader featuring Notre Dame. I hope to be able to pull this off.

Pretty lame that you can't stay in the arena between games.

The first is free and the second isn't plus they have to clean between games so what do you want?

I went to the PSU/Owls game in Happy Valley last year. I thought we had a chance........we didn't. Not that I'm an Owls fan anyway, I just happen to be a Temple student. I'd imagine you'd see more PSU fans at the Link on that particular day anyway.

Honestly if there are more than 2000 people for the afternoon AHL (more like ECHL) game it will be a lot, so I don't think that there will be all that much cleanup involved.

Why is it any different than an old-time twilight double-header? You buy 1 ticket, have the same seat for both games and hang in the arena in between games.

If they did it that way think of how much the arena would make in concessions. They have a captive audience buying their food and their beer. Now, fans will leave and go to restaurants in the area in between games.

Poor planning IMO.

Years ago (actually it was Eric Lindros' rookie year) when the Hershey Bears were the Flyers AHL affiliate, I went to a Bears-Skipjacks, Flyers-Caps double header at the Hershey Arena. In this case it was a true double-header. After the AHL game, the resurfaced the ice and the NHL teams came out for warmups and then the game. Great time!

I know what you're saying. It would be nice but since the first game is free there's no other way to do it than to boot everybody out between games. Otherwise it would be chaos when the ticketholders came in and all of the first game people are in their seats.

That's my point. It shouldn't be "free". The ticket should be good for both games so that there isn't the chaos you mentioned.

Again the big loss is to the SBA who would have had a captive audience that would have been eating and drinking in between games.
