Top ten players at each position

Who do you think the top 10 players at each position are?

IMO:

Defensemen
Nicklas Lidstrom
Rob Blake
Brian Leetch
Eric Desjardins
Al MacInnis
Adam Foote
Scott Stevens
Scott Niedermayer
Chris Pronger
Derek Morris

Centers
Peter Forsberg
Mike Modano
Joe Sakic
Sergei Fedorov
Joe Thornton
Robert Lang
Mats Sundin
Steve Rucchin
Michael Peca

Markus Naslund
Keith Tkachuk
Alex Tanguay
Paul Kariya
Ryan Smyth
Sergei Samsonov
Ray Whitney
Patrik Elias
Martin Straka

Right wingers
Jaromir Jagr
Marian Gaborik
Jarome Iginla
Daniel Alfredsson
Dany Heatley
Marian Hossa
Teemu Selanne

Nikolai Khabibulin
Marty Turco
Jose Theodore
Tomas Vokoun

I didn't include Mario Lemieux in the list because I'm really not sure about him. When he's healthy, he's able of being the best player in the world... but I don't even know if he's able to walk right now so I guess we'll have to see when he comes back

Gaborik isn't a top ten, and I have problems figuring out if he will ever be a top 10. He has a bad consistancy problem.

Oh and just in case you guys are wondering why I didn't put Lemieux because of his injuries but still put Heatley on the list... I know it's a contradiction, but Heatley is still very young and can get back to 100% in a few months when his injuries get better...

C'mon man, do you really think that Linden, O'neil, and Selanne are better than Palffy?

Are these in order from top to bottom? If so I think there are many things I would have strongly disagree with, like having Trevor Linden ahead of Todd Bertuzzi

What's wrong with Linden? He's one of the best defensive players in hockey and is also arguably one of the top 10 playmakers. Bertuzzi is pretty good too but Linden has a lot more experience and plays a much better positional game...

Uhhh.. wha?

Linden isn't even a top 10 playmaker on the Canucks. He is a shooter, not a playmaker. He's also not the best defensive player on the team.

Yes, he is one of the best 3rd liners in the league, but he is not, even close to being, a top 10 Right Winger in this league.

Why do you have Leetch rated so high, yeah maybe 5-10 years ago but now? And he's a Ranger I have always liked (always have a soft spot for players from Team USA) but he's not the same player he was then, in fact I noticed you have a few players past their prime.

Derek Morris is not a Top 10 defenseman...yet. Wade Redden, Ed Jovanovski, and Sergei Gonchar are just a few defenseman who should be ahead of him. Desjardins is not Top 10 either.

I never used to buy it when you Kings fans said Palffy was underrated, but I'm starting to believe you guys might have been right

Severely overrating Lang, Linden, Straka, Francis, Peca, Rucchin, Morris, Whitney, Tanguay. Those guys shouldn't appear anywhere close to top ten in their positions.

If you're not including Lemieux, why are you including MacInnis?

A healthy Chris Pronger is much better than Desjardins, Leetch, Stevens and Niedermayer.

Yeah I missed that one, and it doesn't have to be up to him to change it Hockey Boards can do it themselves.

Well, MacInnis is more consistant in the sense that he pretty much always plays the same way.

Lemieux's game changes a LOT from when he's healthy to when he's not. Sometimes he plays like easily the best player in the world, other times he plays like he's by far the worst player on the ice, including Steve McKenna.

How is Steve Ruchin better than Saku Koivu, Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux and Alexei Yashin? Another thing, how are Giguere and Vokoun listed top 10? Of all the top 10 lists I've seen, this is the worst. This is one of the top 10 worst threads.....in fact its the worst. We are all dumber for having read this thread. And Trevor Linden? My god, that is just pure idiocy. Even when he was good he wasn't neccessarily top 10. And that brings me to Ray Whitney. What the **** were you thinking? That is pure *********. I can't believe I actually read what I did.

OK, ok... so... yeah, maybe I'm overrating some palyers, but I think Whitney is really a great player. So... what's your top 10?

I'm sure I'll leave off a name or two that I would have wanted to put on. Also, these are in no particular order, other than the bottom 2 or 3 probably being lower on my list than the top 5 or 6 since the latter came to mind first. Lemieux and MacInnis are omitted because I'm not sure if they will play again, and if they do if they will play any substantial amount of games.

Choosing a 10th goalie is tough. I like Luongo and what he's done this year, but Denis has done a lot before struggling this season. Osgood's had a strong year and has experience which earns him some recognition even if I'm not as high on his cabilities as I am on Luongo or Denis'. Can I cop-out and call it a three way tie between these guys? :p

NOTE: I completely forgot Kolzig, too. Let's make it a four-way tie!
