Nice interview. Seems like a nice kid. His experience going to Hershey really shows how good this affiliation is with the Bears.

Did anyone catch the Eliot in the morning preview of training camp? I know they don't really take it too seriously but its the only hockey on the radio around here.

Here's what GMGM had to say about the situation:

"They'll probably start camp without contracts. It provides flexibility for them and for us. They're at the point where they believe they are NHL players. And we do, too. If they make our club, good for them and good for us. If they don't, they want the opportunity to play somewhere else. They are concerned they may end up in the American Hockey League again. Europe would be more desirable for them."

"We don't have an issue with that. We'll insure them to make sure they are protected, see how camp goes and how things shake out. If they make the club, everything is fine. If they can't, and there's an opportunity with another NHL club, we can do something that way. And if that doesn't work out, then they can go to Europe and we'll still have their rights."

So there you have it. Fleischmann and Klepis will be playing for their NHL careers.
Also, Seabrook is injured and won't be attending rookie camp

What he get injured on the plane or something, heh. Most of been something that happened right before leaving I guess. Would have been nice to get a look at him.

Cush - thanks for posting that update; as pointed out in a blog comment with the Tarik's last update on those two, in the past, the Caps haven't allowed non-contracted players, for which the Caps hold their rights, to participate in TC.

This makes sense for all parties involved, especially since it is noted they will be insured.

And the Seabrook update is a little strange considering what I had been reading out of Calgary even before that latest article linked above. He did sit out the other night, but it is not uncommon for players to sit out of scrimmages.

also, this is more than just Caps related, but here is the list of WHL players attending NHL camps (inlcuding FAs)

Link to WHL camp attendee list

I stopped by practice this morning (and just got in 12 hours later). About 18 guys there. Highlight was the 4 on 4 scrimmage at the end for about 45 mintues. If your team was scored upon and you were on the ice, you had to drop and do ten push-ups. It was funny watching pro athletes drop to the ice and do pushups.

The official schedule for rookie camp and ice times is posted on the Caps site; see the first post in this thread for the link to the details. (or the nice posts above where people posted the link again)

The vets will be continuing their informal skates at Kettler, as well. Of course, that is unofficial so no schedule and not everyone will be there everyday. See the Caps Report thread for a general idea of when they may be on the ice although with rookie camp they could skate a little later/after the rookies, especially on the weekend when they may be using one of the rinks for the public and lessons, etc.

here's the link to the Kettler site

Erskine wasn't out there yesterday, but that's just one day.
There were 2 prospects there that I didn't recognize, one using the number 42, and the other using 56. I'm sure one of them was Werner, but I don't know who the other one was.

42 on the rookie roster says lepisto and 56 on the main camp roster says bourque but who knows, heh.

Foy, I wasn't saying they were all on the ice yesterday, I wasn't there; simply summarizing the players known to be back in town and skating at Kettler as reported by the sources I noted; just because a player is in town and skating does not mean they will be on the ice every day since these are voluntary skate sessions organized by the players

no Dovgan or Varlamov: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capit...ot_coming.html

Wonder if family concerns prompted Dovgan to play in Russia this season? Though I thought they were coming over this year...

I don't think anyone knew about that. I can understand because of the family concerns.
