PROPOSAL with Phoenix

PROPOSAL: Montoya, Malik and Dawes for Peter Mueller and Derek Morris? Either team can add a second rounder or less to make it work, I'm not into minor details.

I'd really prefer Morris than Jovo, as Eklund is pushing.

Morris-Rosie
Tyutin-Girardi
Mara-Staal

That's not too bad.

From a Ranger Standpoint I would do it, but I don't think the Coyotes would go for it. Even though Phoneix is very weak at Goalie they probaly wouldn't want to give there top prospect for one that has proved zero at the Nhl level, and also Malik has very liitle value.

Seems even, but a little risky for Yotes.

Even if Montoya=Mueller dawes and Malik do not=Morris
That's because they have no decent prospects except him, so they pretend that who they have will be tremendous. Similar to when the Rangers had nobody except Tyutin among skater prospects, so NYR fans were making it seem like Tuts is the next Orr.

Other than Mueller, nobody else would be in the Rangers top-10. Except for Mueller, everyone else is on par with guys like Dawes, Immonen, etc.

I don't think they're going to trade Mueller and Mueller probably has more value than Monty. While Morris is interesting and cheaper, he isn't much of the player he used to be. Hardly the impact Dman Jagr has been pining for all summer. The values are sort of close but I don't think the players involved are right for each team.

I'd rather not. Malik with one more year at 2.5 mil. Morris with 2 years left at over 3.9 mil. Morris's game seems to be declining as well. Malik might drive us all nuts at times and can look ugly doing it but somehow or other he winds up with these astounding +/- numbers and of course we all know that there's more to that particular stat than meets the eye but still--!!?--he can be effective even if at times he looks like dogsh*t doing it. I like being pragmatic. If ugly does the job and not ugly doesn't--I prefer to go with ugly--at least as far as ice hockey is concerned. I'm in no hurry to get rid of Montoya either although Mueller is intriguing. Mueller on his own though doesn't = Montoya + Dawes.

Not too bad. If we dealt Montoya, this is kind of what I think we should get. Either another top prospect, or a top d-man. This deal gets both, almost. Morris isn't a top d-man but he'd be top 3 on our team.

Depending on Morris' contract, I might do it if I'm the Rangers.

Anyone would look bad on a horrible team. I think Morris would do much better if he were surrounded by NHLers and not a bunch of minor leaguers in NHL uniforms.

by that logic, Jovo is gonna be like 3 times the player Morris will be. just twice the contract length, twice the money.

I don't see this deal happening. I'd love it to happen, but it won't. the 'Yotes won't deal Mueller. Where I think Montoya and a high pick would value-wise get a deal done, Phoenix won't do it.

I would do Montoya for Mueller with the surroundings worked out by the GMs from a Ranger standpoint. Not a bad move for Phoenix either. Both were no 6 overall and the philosophy of building a hockey team is to build from the goalie out.

It would help both teams. I feel Montoya will be a top 10 NHL goalie and maybe better than that. The only reason he hasnt gotten a shot is because the King has been so outstanding.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu with this proposal.

I agree with the other posters about the possibility of this trade working and especially about the availability of Mueller. Young Players are the only thing Phoenix has, it doesn't make sense for them to get rid of them.

Besides, won't Phoenix need to keep Morris and his salary in order to spend the league minimum in salary?

Who do they have in goal? I honestly don't know who's in their pipeline.

They just signed Asbescheir and some prospect (LeNeveau).

Yotes would laugh at that. Mueller's value is what Staal's is to us.

I'm still happy to this day that Isles passed over him.

Aebischer seems decent...he's struggled a bit the last couple seasons, but his lifetime GAA is only 2.51 which is pretty solid.

how about this:

Montoya, Dawes, Greg Moore, Ivan Baranka, the rights to Immonen to the Yotes for Derik Morris and Martin Latal

Wouldn't do it. I wouldn't trade Montoya straight up for Morris.
