It's news to me also, but I assume it has to do with the rights. Perhaps Premiere only has the broadcasting rights for Germany and Austria, which seems reasonable to assume. I am in Holland and cannot legally subscribe to Premiere on satelitte either.
Of course there could be ways around it. I doubt that Premiere would check your ISP on IP-level, which would mean that you could try through a local contact. Dan surely has contacts in the Frankfurt area
It definately should have something to do with the rights. It's the same with NHL center ice or some of the TSN broadcasts, they can't simply show a product if they don't have the rights for it.
In other news, Hamburg's headcoach Bill Stewart was so unhappy with the first two games, that today's practise was 4 hours long. Though I have to say that video review was included, else that would be rather inhuman
Nice start by the Lions ... but what kind of a different style of hockey than we've seen the last five years. System-hockey to death ... based heavily on tactics and system. No more individual support opening the game. Long passes out of the zone, than working the puck in. Kind of hard to get used to to be honest..
Reminds me a bit of the 96 Panthers that went to the Stan ..oooops ..
I tried hard to and finally I liked it. Especially the Checking Lines did their job well.
When they stop making the few small mistakes in the D, everyone is going to hate playing against us.
It's tough to say, but even Chris Armstrong played solid.

What?!? What kind of s|-|it is this considering we live in the world wide web era ... they are so lousy its unbelievable.
But whats the reason? Does american credit card money doesn't smell that good than german or austrian?!? or any techincal probs? what of what kind they should be when you look at the fact that you can even get a live stream of a fu$$%~ing Lacrosse game if you want.

yeah, ask Amy how happy I was all Sunday after I found out I wouldn't be watching any damn DEL games

Dan: Ask Markus in the Lions Board.
He is quite experienced in Computer-related problems.
At least he knows someone who can solve you problem with a proxy.

I attempted to order a game online from Premiere and actually got to watch a choppy period until it cut out. When I emailed them I was told that only residents of Austria and Germany could order.

After tonight's 2-4 win in Wolfsburg, Frankfurt sits first in the league with eight points in three games. At least until tomorrow, when the rest of the teams play...
Somebody please tell Mannheim, that the preseason is over...geez, is that pathetic.
Why? I believe all Lions-fans and the Eisbären-fan (me) here, like the situation very much...
Okay, Mannheim is the Champion, only two players of last season's team left (Pelletier and Robinson), so they should really be better than it looks at the moment...

Maybe Hacks or Hauser destroy the whole chemistry in the team or the true Greg Poss comes back.
Well well, look at that, Jean-Marc Pelletier with the gamewinner for Hamburg against Berlin
Apparently there was a delayed call against Hamburg, Berlin pulled the goalie and a pass accidently landed in their own net. Last season this wouldn't have been a goal, but they changed the rule before this season.
Not directly DEL-related, but it has something to do with some DEL-cities:
From Bob McKenzie at TSN:
Quote:
...Sources say the league is currently negotiating to place the 2008-09 regular season opener in one of three venues - either Prague, Stockholm or a German city from a group that includes Hanover, Munich or Frankfurt. ...
That seems a pretty weird choice of German cities. I'd understand Berlin, because Anschütz is opening the new arena next year, or Köln, maybe even Mannheim or Düsseldorf, even though those two might be a bit small for an NHL-game.
Unless they somehow manage to build a new arena before the next season starts, I can't see how any of those three mentioned cities has the size or the quality to hold an NHL-game. The arenas are either too small, too old or both.

the arena in hanover should be ok for a NHL-game. just 7 years old and big enough. around 12.000???
