Jere Karalahti

Could someone please translate this article?
Thanks!

Jere Karalahti jättää IFK:n
Puolustaja Jere Karalahden ensi kauden näkymissä yksi asia on viimein varmistunut.

32-vuotiaan Karalahden toistaiseksi viimeisen HIFK-kauden saldoksi jäi 51 ottelussa 5+9. Puolustajan kausi päättyi kolmen ottelun pelikieltoon puolivälieräsarjassa HPK:ta vastaan.

Basically it says that Jere Karalahti will not continue to play with HIFK despite he has one year in his contract left. The quote says "Hifk will not be an obstacle if Jere want's to play in some other team".

For some more specific translation you have to wait for someone not as lazy as me to do the job.

Jere's future?

So Jere signed with Oulun Kärpät and will attend the NHL's substance abuse program again.

He wants to get back in shape and leave the problems behind. It's a very high hill to climb but hopefully he will make it for his family and for himself.

What do you guys think? Will Jere make it or do we see Kärpät booting him out before the spring?

If he REALLY wants it I think it's possible. At least he have been understood that he is alcoholic.

According to Iltalehti, Janne Niinimaa is concidering his Kärpät as on alternative, one of his alternatives beeing Linköping, Sweden

Jere and Janne can be rather dynamic duo

He was hoping if he could return to NHL, but I think he should first get help to his problem and keep himself sober. If he manages to do that, maybe he will try out if he can still play in NHL.

Very sad to read about this. I've always liked him a lot as a hockey player, but his actions off the ice are sometimes completely unacceptable. And that seems to be the case once again in this one...

Rough translation. Jere's dad (who is a police officer) says that Jere has followed NHL anti-drug programs intensively and has been on an Antabus-medication for the past 6 months. He is surprised that this old thing has been activated now.

Though Love

There are some things that our eastern brothers do better than anyone else.

Jere is in police custody, risking up to 10 years in prison.

His mates in Kärpät wants to cheer him up.

What do they send?

A DVD box of "Prison Break".

Karalahti fired by Kärpät

http://www.iltasanomat.fi/urheilu/t/sm-liiga/1465284

Is it over for Jere?

Edit.

And SM-Liiga suspended Jere untill the court makes the final decision about Jere's drug case.

To those who can't read Finnish, Karalahti Finnish League team fired him moments before the League itself banned him until his case has been settled in a court of law. Given that one of the conditions of his release was surrendering his passport, leagues outside Finland are out of the question as well. The only thing I'm not quite clear about is whether he could play for a team in a lower-tier league -- I suppose not, but I'm not sure.

Last I saw (in swedish media) was that he was released from the police.

But I guess that SM-Liiga has good reason to keep him at arms length until they know.

There's always special handling, and then there's special handling.

No hack or Jere but he isn't Teemu

Edit:
No I don't imply that Teemu is dealing drugs.
I'm just implying that if he was, he would have been handled a bit differently

As would Karalahti, if this was the first time he was in trouble.
