It took me literally 3 seconds to Google search this.

Atlanta - January 27, 2008

Montreal in 2009 and right now the Coyotes are the favorites to land 2011. Because of the Olympics and the new CBA, there will not be an All-Star Game in 2010.

I'd think Pittsburgh would be a choice after the new arena is built, but I think they'd rather get the full economic Crosby Boost in a major population center than visit the place where the Crosby Boost is already in full effect.

There was an article back in March in one of the Pittsburgh newspapers about that:

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07079/770865-61.stm

A new arena and enthusiastic mayor may be the clinchers, Mr. McMillan said. "The mayor coming out and saying that [he wants the game here] can only help. And the fact that Pittsburgh did so well with the [2006 Major League Baseball] All-Star Game can only help."

The city last hosted the NHL All-Star Game in 1990. The game is to be played in Atlanta in 2008, Montreal in 2009, and won't occur in 2010, because it is not held in years during which there is a winter Olympiad.

Glendale, Ariz., where the Phoenix Coyotes play in a 3-year-old building, may have the inside track on 2011. It was slated to get the game in 2006 before the league decided not to hold it because of the conflict with the Olympic Games, in which many of the league's stars play.

There is no timeline for naming a host city for 2011 or 2012, according to NHL spokesman Frank Brown.

year before the lockout if memory serves... we sucked and Brind'Amour was the only representative.

things i will never spend money on to see live: all-star games. i do enjoy watching the skills competition on TV, but the actual games are blah in every sport.

Actually it was in '92 that we hosted the All star game, the year before the lockout was in NYC

The Flyers hosted the All-Star Game in 1976 and 1992. I was offered really good seats to the game so I went. The guy seated next to me was ex-Rangers' goalie Steve Baker (I'm not sure if he was involved in hockey at the time). I remembered that he played a role in a rare feat in Flyers' history. The day President Reagan was shot, March 30, 1981, Baker and the Flyers' Rick St. Croix dueled in a rare 0-0 scoreless tie that night at MSG.

I had to check the Flyers History site for the one, but that game ended a streak of 4-0-10 at MSG for the Flyers. 14 straight without a loss, including 10 ties at the Rangers.

Here is a history of the All-Star Game and the host teams:

Phoenix has been screwed over at least twice for the all star game. They will get it in 2011.

1992... I was three.

I do remember going to the MLB All-Star Game at the Vet in 1996 and the AHL All-Star Game in '98 I think. They were fun.

If the NHL game is anything like it was last year though (a goal every 64 seconds), I don't want anything to do with it. I'll watch the skills competition, but besides that, whatever.
