GDT: Jan 4, 2004 - Oilers @ Chicago

Here's the game day thread, but I can imagine most people here would rather watch the NFL playoff games or the Sugar Bowl than the Oilers tonight.

I predict.....3-1 Oilers tonight. York continues his strong play and scores one and assists one.

I thought football ended yesterday. Anyway, there are more important games on today than those - like Edmonton-Chicago. Or any hockey game. Or just staring at the walls getting pumped up for the big game tomorrow morning. The Oilers will win by one tonight - but at least they'll win.

the pk seems to be coming back to form, Torres scored in the last game things seem to be getting back on track. One more thing is it me or did LMHF#1 not do the game report for the last game?

Ill go with a 3-3 draw. Chicago is playing very well at home lately and it will not be an easy game for the oilers.
I think the injury to Smith might turn out to be a good thing for this team. A lot of guys stepped up their play against Minny namely Staios and hopefully we can see a consistent effort each and every night. I don't like when this team loses who does, however if they do I want to see them go down fighting, not whimpering.

The Sun suggested that Brewer was the one who had stepped up his game another notch with Smith out, but being away for over a week I didn't get to see much of the games, so take that for what it's worth.

This game could be even more important than the win against the Wild, though - a win and it's a 2-game win streak and a big boost in confidence...a loss and it's back to square one. Yikes!

I'll say 3-1 Oilers with an empty-netter.

Bart

I really really think this is a break out game for the Oilers. I'll predict 5-1. Isibster, Smyth, York, Hemsky all with good games. We need our stars to play like stars. If we do lose, I would expect a deal short after as this could be a turning point type game.

2 - 2 tie, Salo plays well against a feisty Chicago club but our popgun offense barely squeaks a couple flukes by them. I'll say York and Hemsky with the tallies.

we figure it's pretty pointless doing a report after watching a game on tv...since you cant see everything

any word on the line-up for todays game. Is big George back in or will MacT ice the same team as against the Wild?

the journal said he's out tonight & Chimera will stay in the lineup..Laraque hurt his hand in his fight with Matt Johnson last Tuesday in the first game of the home & home series vs Minny.

Calgary sliding, Oilers rising! I think we can pull this one off, pull to within 7 points of the idle Flames...and by the end of this road trip, we could be caught up to them! WHooo!

well, first off, I'm loving the confidence people are showing in Tommy again! I told all of you he'd come around! Anyways.... 4-1 win for the Oilers tonight. Isbister, Hemsky (I pick him everygame), Brewer (I pick him every game too ), and Dvorak. York gets a couple assists.

Well I just watched the football game and now its the game Ive waited 2 days for. I say 4-2 Oil with an EN. The Oil will spend next week in my neighborhood and I hope to catch at least one game while they are here. I am hoping they can make me proud.

Are we so sure Tommy Salo gets the start tonight? We are facing Brodeur tomorrow.

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to start Ty tonight? I don't want to play Salo two games in a row with the tail end against Jersey... then again.. I have no idea what MacT does sometimes.

Well, Tommy has had LOTS of rest this year. If he hasn't shown in the past that he is capable of playing back to back games then I think Brodeur is the only goalie in the NHL who has shown that.

Seriously though. We are going to need NO weak goals against New Jersey. It isn't really about IF Salo can play those game back to back. It's whether or not it is a good idea.
