Should be a decent D in Chicago.

You guys are going to love him. Hurts to see him go, but this gives him a legit chance to get back into the NHL. Disappointed that the Leafs only offered him a training camp invitation.

He played 10 games for the Toronto Marlies (AHL) at the end of last season and did pretty well for himself there. Really helped stabilize a defence that has been either hot or Nunavut winter cold all season and displayed some real veteran saavy too.

He's a bit slow of foot and looked it with the Marlies, so his skating hadn't recovered from the 2 years on and off the ice. But still, he made up for it with very solid positioning, to the point that he was only very rarely caught flat-footed during his brief stint. Decent two-way play and an all around smart player.

Good pick up for the Thrashers.

I bet he turns out to be one of the team's best defensemen this year, and plays on the top pp.

No! Not Pilar

I guess this means only one rookie will be on the team...Hartley would pick a veteran over a rookie...he's proven that in the past.

Pilar has had an unfortunate career, I would love to see him on the Leafs but the situation is already pretty tight here. I hope he does well in Atlanta, he had a lot of promise.

Very good player. You guys will love him if he's healthy enough to stick around.

The last health reclamation project by the Thrashers was Scott Barney. That turned out OK, but wasn't the home run they were hoping for. Maybe Pilar will be, who knows.

Good player, for his sake, I hope he plays. For every other team, I hope he doesn't. He can be an awesome weapon, he has a laser beam of a point shot. If he's healthy, he could be a good 2nd pairing D man for you.

I see I'm not the only optomist who thinks Pilar could have a comeback year of sorts. It's not like you guys are super deep back there.

I'm more interested in the maturation process of Bartovic. I thought he was going to be a player before so if he's any bit effective it will be a big improvement. Interesting signings....

If Pilar can stay healthy I think you have found your PP QB.

He is an entertaining player.

How could the Scott Barney signing from a couple years ago be viewed as "turned out OK?"

I ask because he has played in 3 NHL games since then. Didn't exactly turn out okay to me, I'd call that a wasteful signing if anything.

Pilar will probably take Enstrom spot. If he is healthy enough, he can be a very good QB on the powerplay. Plus, he is only 29, not what we call an old player.

Beside his heart disease, he usally put good number on the scoreboard, which is what we need from our defencements.

Good signing.
