Hi - I'm going to be in town on business Monday night and I'm looking for a place to watch the 'Canes - Penguins game if my hotel doesn't have Versus. I'm at the Sheraton City Center and it looks like the Public House is pretty close to the hotel. Would you recommend this as a good place to watch the game? Will I take my life in my hands if I go and root for the 'Canes? Or will there be enough Flyers fans out to root against the Penguins that I will feel right at home? Thanks for your help!

Nobody here likes the pens you'll be fine on that front.
Hey guys Islander fan that lives outside glensfalls, your phantoms are now my hometown team. Anyway, Im taking my first trip to philly in a week or so, my gfs family is from around there and were heading down for a visit. Im looking for some recomendations for places to go and to eat and to see if there is a flyers store i can check out for hartnell or cote or carcillo shirt or anything really, just looking to have some hockey in this trip
When I was in Philly I really liked to see the Battleship USS New Jersey, I recommend it. But stay at waterfront... adviced some people from Glassboro to me.
And if you travell right before the spring breaks the tourist traps in Philly are not crowded. I walked right to the Liberty Bell for example.
Another thing, when I was in Philly I was looking for a good store with Flyers stuff.
Is Wachovia center the best place to buy jerseys, cups, caps, shirt and etc?
I found some places with some stuff, like the place near city hall. The guy there excused me because they had alot of Sixers, Phillies and Eagles stuff but almost nothing with Flyers...
Sorry for using the word stuff, could not find a better word right now.

The Wachovia Center is terribly overpriced for merch.
Merchandise, that was the word I was looking for I had a brain fart.
And yes, they were very expensive. Thats why I hope to get some tips of other stores when I get back
I usually look online for t-shirts and stuff, but I've gotten my Jerseys as Christmas gifts usually, but I'm sure someone around here knows where to get those on the cheap...
Not really a "visitor," but I wasn't quite sure where I could put this question.
Currently living in South Philly area over near front street. I don't have a car but I was looking for some advice about where I can find open pick up hockey games either roller or ice. I live near the Rizzo Ice rink and I see they have a roller hockey rink over there. Has anyone ever played there? Are there set times that games are organized? Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Modell's in Delco or the Malls has great stuff, whether it be Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, or Flyers. They usually have more Pre or Mid Season rather than WAYOFF season. But I usually get drunk and buy something in the Wach. FMW

Any advice about what malls I should go to? Planning a trip to Franklin Mills, but I'm sure there's some great ones in the city too. Going to Philly for the first time in october. Dream commin' true!

King of Prussia, perhaps? It's only the largest in the country for retail space.
Is Prime Outlets the best place to shop? or are there other locations I should take a look at? Anyone know of a good reasonable hotel near the outlet mall?

I don't know if you've already checked it out, but the Outlets are about 45 minutes from Center City. That said the Outlets aren't bad, but if you are looking for current clothing, then the malls in King of Prussia are your best bet.

To be honest with you, in this retail market there are tons of bargains to be had at the "regular" stores. While there are some bargains to be had at the Outlets, I personally think that they are also a scam. People think they are getting deals when they really aren't.
Since KoP is on the way to Limerick, may as well stop there first and maybe save the 15 minute drive up 422.
I flew into Philly to meet a friend of mine yesterday and I have to say, it's a fairly interesting city. First real time I've been staying on the East Coast (I don't think D.C., Quantico or Richmond count as much). Though...I almost got mugged last night *sighs* My mistake.
Too bad I'm in between the Flyers and the Eagles games. Would have loved to see one.

What's the best non touristy colonial site in Philly?
To be honest, I'd just say walk around Olde City then. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are right across the street from each other, and you can pretty much just pass by and look. The Constitution Center is right down from there too. But if you want to get the colonial thing as a whole, just go wandering if you're trying to beat crowds.
To answer the question though, I'd probably say the Betsy Ross House or something. The Constitution Center is never really super busy, but that's not really colonial per say.
