Speaking of ads, I hope they dont have those TV ads this season in the far end behind the nets (like where the Zambonis come out) that are computer generated.

Also, it's very annoying watching games on tv in places with those things reflecting off of the ice.
Totally agree. I can't stand how most arenas have them. Does every arena have to be identical? The differences between them is what makes them cool. MSG will always be awesome obviously, but it doesn't need to start copying other places.

Dude, LED Light Bands are a great feature. In addition to making the place "light up" with every home team goal, they also serve as a source of advertising revenue, and even an out of town scoreboard.

From looking at these pics of MSG... I'm surprised they cant fit any more bands in there!

they cant fit more due to the changing of tier levels around the arena. the places where the 400's and luxury boxes are constantly at different levels, and with extending boxes in some places. if you look at other arenas, the bands are one ring usually without changes of levels (I think) so the two ends are the only uniform sports to work with in MSG. I'm curious to see what they do with them during Rangers games, but more than anything else I feel like the kid who finally got the cool sneakers that all the cool kids had already.

as long as the light doesn't reflect on the ice I guess I won't care.

cool pics. Do you think these upgrades are a sign that the Garden isn't actually moving and Dolan is going ahead with his "billion-dollar" upgrade to make it look like a new arena?

No, I don't think so. Looks more like he's buying some time because the whole Moynihan Station project has hit so many delays. 2012 is beginning to look like wishful thinking. They couldn't sit around and do nothing.

You're right. Lets discuss the "power ring" for 3-4 more pages.

Here's a picture from a Liberty game:

The company that did the screens, Daktronics, did Jobing.Com Arena's scoreboard as well. They're pretty awesome.

Throw up a new scoreboard and some LED rings and then you wonder why they need a new arena at all?

That's okay, most of us wouldn't have found it on our own.

That thing is going to be sick when we score in the third overtime or something.

About time. I was sick of the dead pixels on that thing. Always reminded me of a broken Lite Brite toy.

Wow... that almost looks like a photoshop! It seems weird to see the ring board and center scoreboard look so modern in MSG. I love the Garden... it's like a second home. But I really want to see it stand aside for a new arena. Hell, we're paying enough for one. And if we gotta pay 8 bucks to drive in to see a game, then ****in' Bloomy owes it to us to get the plans moving along.

Can't wait to see the new screens in action. Like you guys said... goal celebrations will look sweet on them. When I was in Boston, the place would explode with light when a goal was scored. Looking forward to seeing that at home. Wonder if they'll find another celebration song besides "Slapshot."

EDIT: Here's some shots of the "power ring" and scoreboard in Boston.

The only thing I don't like about Boston's new system is that the ring directly above the main video screen is used for stats.
