Does anyone get the feeling that Rogers (or as I like to call him "Ole' Stonehands") is going to lose the starting DB spot to Smoot? I sure do.

Can't beleive we ended up drafting this guy with a top-10 pick.

Rogers seemed to regress last year but a CBs success depends a lot on have a Dline put some pressure on. In the smoot article today it sounds like williams going back to more man to man instead of cover 2 last year so maybe both Rogers and Smoot will step up.

Rogers is to the Redskins what Steve Eminger is to the Caps. Has all the talent to be a top guy, even shows flashes, but for some reason can't put it all together.

As for who will be the #2 guy, i am not sure its going to matter that much. You need 3 good corners in the NFL today as most teams go with 3 WR sets often.

Other than the Pats and the Bears, that really isn't such a bad out-of-division schedule.

Rogers gives me more confidence than Ade "Toast" Jimoh

Smoot should take Rogers' spot - but the real question is if Springs can stay healthy and be a regular in the starting lineup this season... methinks we will see alot of Smoot / Rogers while Springs is sidelined

I don't think so. Rogers has all the tools and he's learning still. I think he'll turn some heads this season.

Smooty-Smoot....I think he'll play well this year. He's got something to prove.

Does anyone else remember the last time the Redskins opened the season at home against the Dolphins? I'm still laughing over that one, and the resulting Sports Illustrated cover. With that awful defensive line of the 'Skins, Trent Green might be in for a repeat

You know you're 40 or older when you can remember things that happened 25 years ago better than you can remember things that happened last year.

In 1984 Dan Marino threw 5 touchdowns in a 35-17 victory for the Dolphins. The Sports Illustrated cover read Air Raid and pictured one of the Marks, Clayton or Duper, catching a touchdown over Darrell Green.

Marino got to his only Super Bowl that year, which is a great shame, since he's one of the all time greats. There might not have been a better pure passer ever, and may never be again

Hopefully they will beat the Patriots...They were the last team to beat the Pats in 03, in which the Patriots went on the win the Super Bowl! Lets hope for a repeat!

Unlike everyone else Marino lit up, at least we weren't left asking "why did we pass him over at the draft again?".

As for this season, I'm really excited about the backfield. If Carlos Rogers is your nickle corner, how bad can things be? Springs is still a top CB in the league when he's healthy enough to be on the field, and you gotta love Smoooooooooot. Also, I can't think of a better safety tandem in the league than area 51 (21+30). Having defined Strong and Free safeties should also help to simplify things (I still think Archuletta would've worked out a lot better if we did that last year).

My prediction is 6-7 wins.

Here are the problems as I see them:

Left side of the line is a mess. If that doesn't get fixed (ahem go find a real LG) nothing will be clicking in that offense.

Brandon Lloyd still plays for the team.

Defense will be better, but still will be unable to get to the QB with just the front 4. I still hold out hope that this season we'll be able to generate an actual turnover.

Clinton Portis is pretty hurt and he won't be 100% healthy at all this season.

I still have questions about the kicking game. Good 2nd half by Suisham be damned.

The positives:

Mark Brunell isn't starting. Now the ball can travel more than 7 yards downfield.

The entire offense gets a 2nd year under Saunders - That can only produce positive results.

London Fletcher looks like the real deal.

The secondary is incredibly talented from top to bottom.

Rogers sucks. The guys can't cover or catch.

The only positive... he's got a strong frame and he can tackle...if the man is in front of him.

But I do agree with the other posters he makes a fine nickel back. I just hated the fact that we wasted a top-10 pick on a nickel back.

At least it will be nice weather. I skip attending preseason games because they're so boring.
