I don't know how many games last year I lost my voice from screaming at the stupid S.O.B. There's hope in Atlanta tonight.

Couple of questions from an Islander fan:

1. Who were his d partners last year?

2. Is he better as an offensive guy or a defensive guy?

Until Zhitnik arrived, he was top pairing with Havelid. He missed some time due to injury. He played some 2nd pair with DeVries.

He's not an offensive player, but he has a shot. His strength is blocking shots, his weakness is clearing the zone. Maybe you can fix him with coaching.

Sutton makes Zhitnik look like Bobby Freakin' Orr.

I can't believe that anybody would waste $3M/year on Sutton.

I'm sad to see him go! Now Atlanta will have a better defenseman and non-goon on their D corp to take his place. Damn, now that I think of it, this isn't good for us.

He is much better than many here give him credit for...however he is too inconsistent to get $3 million/year.

He was our best defenseman in the first half, without a doubt.

Disagree completely. There is much doubt. Andy Sutton is the most maddening player you will ever have in your organization. Here is a guy with size, that started as winger with the Wild. He has the capability to either be productive offensively or a physical force defensively but he's neither with any consistency. He takes stupid penalties. After 8 years in the league he still has mental errors resulting in lost assignments. The guy has the tools but cannot build anything.

On the positive? He's big. He will block shots. He is tough to shoot through. I also like his clubhouse presence. He's a stand up guy. He won't duck the media if things get tough. He also has a decent sense of humor.

I'd love to have a beer with him but I don't want him on my hockey team. I take that back. If he were making 750K and on the third pairing getting 10 minutes a night? I'd love the guy.

Good luck with Alice (as in Alice the Goon from Popeye) but I am not sorry to see him go.

I thought that Hnidy, Havelid, Exelby, and even deVries were better than Sutton.

Finally someone has gotten to the heart of the matter.

To pay him top pairing money and put him in your top pair is the height of folly.

Totally agree. He'll have stretches where he looks like Norris material. Unfortunately, those stretches are separated by much longer stretches of mediocrity or flat-out suckocrity. In the past season or two the bad stretches have gotten longer and the good ones shorter.

Good bye, Andy. Best of luck to you on the Island.
