Blockbuster three-player keeper league deal...

Gaborik/Gagne for Ovechkin

Would you give up those two superstars for AO?

I say yes. Try and get a sandwich out of the deal, too.

No, definitely not. AO is clearly the best, but Gaborik/Gagne will outscore AO and the lesser producing player you get to fill the spot.

Absolutely not. Gaborik himself might equal Ovechkin alone next year and down the road.

Big NO for me.

I have no problem offering 2 - 1 deals if I'm getting the better player in the deal. However you're giving up 2 top players on each team, that will out produced Ovechkin by a wide margin.

Don't do it. Ovechkin is the best player out of all 3, but Gaborik could out score him if he plays a full season.

heck no to that trade.
Gagne + Gaborik = around 130 pts last year combined...that's with Gaborik only playing 40 some games.

Ovechkin only picked up 90 some points.

Definitely no. Gaborik will outscore Ovechkin if he plays a full season. Gagne is no slouch either, and now that he has a good center that can play more than half the season, his numbers will also go up.

Depends of what depth you have. If you can replace Gagne with a 45-50 points player or better, go for it.

I disagree with the consensus.

In a year where his numbers regressed a little, AO had 92 points. With Nylander there, the continued development of Semin the addition of backstrom (not expecting a huge year initially, but he'll help in the near future) and poti to help out on the PP that number will go back over 100 this year and beyond.

Most posters are saying that Gaborik will outscore AO on his own if he stays healthy; that is a HUGE IF. he's been in the nhl for 6 years and has a best season of 67 points. he hasn't played more than 65 games since 2002/3.

for me in this case the side with the best player who is also the safer player is the way to go.

I would likely get a draft pick in return... if I had to guess, I would put it in the 2nd-4th round range... we don't have full rosters yet because we haven't had our draft for the 2007-08 season. Right now, we only have the 10 players we protected from last season. My 10 are as follows:

Crosby
Malkin
E. Staal
Nash
Gagne
Gaborik
Naslund
Bouwmeester
Pitkanen
Fleury

If I were to get a second player in return from the other manager rather than a DP, it would likely be either Forsberg or Bertuzzi (his two oldest and highest risk players). We have 23-man rosters - 4 C, 4 LW, 4 RW, 6 D, 2 G and 3 bench spots. We can only protect a max of 9 forwards, 4 dmen and/or 1 goalie. Anyway, does this change anyone's opinion of the trade, or is it still mostly a big "no"?

I'd still stick with Gaborik and Gagne.

Do it.

I like Gaborik and Gagne but I'd do it in a seconde.
To me this is a steal.

Ovechkin wasn't even the best LWer on Washington last year... Gaborik has the potential to be a perennial 100 point man.

Do NOT make this trade.

You could be giving up 2 50 goal scorers in the upcoming season....

yra Gaborik has been working hard this offseason in order not to pull anything again. I think he is going to be good to go this year scoring about 100 pts. Gagne will be playing with briere and Kunuble or Lupul so he is going to get monster points this year as well. He ahsnt gotten hurt yet but thye way AO plays he could very easlily get hurt as well.

Resounding HELLS NO for me
