Question on Suter

What do you think is his offensive top-end?

He carries the puck real well and is a very good playmaker. Could be as good as Zidlicky when all is said and done. He doesn't have Weber or Hamhuis's shot but in tight he has quicker hands.

I think 15g 40 assist is a good bet for him soon.

Aw...I assume you mean the real Zidlicky as opposed to that other guy we saw wearing number 3 for the majority of the second half of last season...

I think he can easily hover around the 50 point mark for several years (if given powerplay time).

With Franson, Weber, and even Blum on the pipeline, I think Suter is going to constantly be more of a defensive d-man for us, possibly Hamhuis as well. He has the abilities to get points, but I don't think he'll play that role.

I think his offensive output will largely depend on the players around him. He certainly has the tools to pickup a good amount of points, however, if Weber, Zidlicky and Franson are on the big club for years to come, we'll see his role shift to more defensive. However, if some of those players aren't on the team, he may have a more offensive role with the team.

He's a terrific hitter, and is very strong, especially given he's only between 6-0 and 6-1

Actually, when I asked Trotz who he saw Suter's style and career would ultimately best parallel, he said Gary Suter.

For Weber he said, Adam Foote........that was near the end of the 2005/6 season, before he really showed his propensity for scoring goals from the point with his cannon.

I would say that Weber will have a career much more along the lines of Rob Blake than Adam Foote.

so do you think Suter gets 2nd PP unit time this year or (assuming Sully is healthy) will we be seeing more of the 4-forward PP lineups like last year which presumably limits the PP defensemen to Weber and Zids?

I think that without Kariya, Sully moves down low , nd we're likely to see 2 dmen on the PP.

There is no doubt in my mind that Suter will get 2nd unit PP time this year, whether or not Sully is healthy.
