Derek Morris' Icetime Down

What's up with Morris' ice time?

I couldn't see the game (vs. Minn) tonight, but the Box Scores show him with only 14 min. on-ice. That's Low Man for all the Avs' defensemen.

In addition, he only logged 16 min+ vs. Vancouver on Friday. I believe his ATOI is around 21 min. this season.

Subject to what y'all who SAW the game think, I smell 3 possibilities:

1. Morris is just being temporarily subordinated to Skoula... to "showcase" Skoula by increasing his ice-time.
2. Morris is playing with an injury.
3. Morris is in Granato's dog-house (why?).

Insights? Theories?

Let's crank up those Trade Rumors!

Most likely it is Skoula being showcased. But, why not reduce Liles' ice time instead of Morris'?

Speaking of Skoula...anyone see that turnover that led to a 2-on-none break? Ouch...

I also noticed he stayed off the ice after that.

Morris only had about three minutes of ice time in the first period.

Yeah, but I thought he played well apart from that . . . made some very nice passes.

Very true, at least imo.

I was just saying to myself, "Hmmm, Skoula's been pretty decent tonight. Maybe he's FINALLY turned the corner" Then he loses the puck for the breakaway....

Sauve really saved his bacon on that play. Could have cost us a point in the standings.

Especially considering that it was Daigle AND Gaborik on the breakaway.

If Daigle knew that Gaborik was trailing behind him...it would have been over for Sauve there.

My guess is that it's been to give Liles more ice time, without taking away too much from Skoula, so other teams won't think Marty's playing bad. Liles has been playing pretty well lately, especially on the transition, and in the offensive zone, and this is probably a planned part of his developement this season.
