I'm listening to the Canucks radio guys over the web... they're being very complimentary of the Sharks and have had Stemmer and Randy Hahn on to present the opposition point of view before the game and during an intermission.
4 game roadtrip, and 3 aren't on TV. I sure hope all those Warrior fans enjoyed watching the Warriors who could only manage 65 points against the Rockets.... as opposed, say, to watching an important game between division leaders
6 points outta 8 on the road trip...and they shoulda had at least 7 if the refs didn't bend them over in Chicago.
Yup... plus the Ricci goal that was also waived off in Chicago because the ref lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle... oh well, that happens over the course of the year. Hopefully the Sharks can keep up this effort and 1 or 2 points won't mean anything at the end of the year.
Speaking of effort, I sure hope the Sharks come out fired up against the BlueJackets on Thursday... I'd hate to see them take points in two tough cities like STL and VAN, and then put up a stinker at home to a team like CBJ.
Good thing this is the last one not on TV, at least for me.
How do the Sharks look as a whole?
I saw the game on Center Ice.
The Sharks didn't many mistakes but it felt like most of the game was played in their end.. I don't think they had a good scoring chance on their power plays but they didn't give the Canucks many chances on their PP's. Actually the Sharks had better scoring chances when they were killing penalties.
I missed the first 8 minutes of the third and didn't see the first 2 goals.
I taped the game so I'll have to watch the third period again tomorrow.
Toskala was the first star of the game and deserved it. Marleau was the third star for scoring the winner.
3 Pacific division teams did battle tonight... we know the Sharks took 2 points from the Canucks in the last seconds, but Dallas and Anaheim also battled in Southern California. In that game, the Ducks and Stars ended regulation tied up at 2 -- thankfully for the Sharks, neither could do anything in OT, so no bonus point was awarded.
Anyhow, here are the standings as the sharks are now 1/2 way through (41 games down, 41 to go).

All 5 pacific division teams are off tomorrow. On WED we get PHX @ WAS and LA @ ANA. Sharks and Dallas are off until Thursday.
BTW... during the canucks broadcast, they mentioned that only one team in the NHL is in the top 10 in GF, GA, PP% and PK%. No, it's not the Sharks (as they're not in the top 10 in goal scoring [16th], but are in GA, PP% and PK%).... quietly, the answer is the Avs.
as always, thanks to jzap for his lastminute standings... they rock.
ON pace for 96 pts...and thats after the poor start...whoda thunk?
These past two years have, in my mind, have proven that loads talent does not a good team make. Of course, a good TEAM with proven talent can make a great team ... So hopefully our youngsters will keep up the pace and show that they have much more then just potential.
I've been battling a sickness, and I was drop dead tired, I watched the first two periods then fell asleep.. DOH!!! Waking up and seeing that score is much better then the last time waking up and seeing the Sharks loose a 2-0 lead to th educks and loosing 3-2.
How about them Sharks huh? Go Marleau, My man Marleau.
96 points? Remember I said the Sharks well hit 93. So I could be right!
