It would be nice to have Hartnell for this one. Key once again will be to get a lot of traffic in front of Cujo and plenty of Tootoo to get some wings off their game.
Penalty kill has to stay aggresive.
2-0 after the first period of play. Draper and Wooley have the Detoilet goals.
We didn't play all that bad, just a couple of defensive letdowns...not picking up Draper in front of the net, and letting Wooley walk down in the slot and rip it at Koun, who earlier in that play battled Shanahan on the boards for the puck. I think Koun was set but he definitely was not in sorts for stopping shots after his jaunt from the net.
This is what I expected. We don't usually play well on the road and we certainly aren't going to be overlooked by the Wings. Effort can only take you so far when the other team outspends you by 60 million. Their 3 goalies are almost making more than out entire roster.
Thats what I thought after the first, but during the second, we have basically given up except for a couple of fleury's we put on blowjo. We stopped hitting, we are getting hit harder, stopped carrying the puck into the zone, and are now numbly dumping and chasing. Looks pathetic, and probably the worst PP I've seen all year.
important...we have an impressive record on the road vs the laffs to defend, tomorrow. any timetable on hartnell? i thought he was close?
gamache had another GREAT game, and darche didn't look too shabby, either. no schnabel once again. wonder if he's hurt or just in the doghouse. stevenson hurt his shoulder in practice, no word on how serious that is.
We were definitely due for a horrible loss like this. I didn't surprise me in the least. At the same time it doesn't discourage me either. These things happen to every team. What's important is we really bring our A game tonite to toronto. Another 6-0 loss could be bad news.
Also...gamache looked excellent. He should definitely be centering the orszagh-eart line. Darche impressed me as well. As always...Arky blew like a big North wind.
