Cherepanov made a nice steal at center ice, broke in 2-on-1 but had his pass broken up.

EDIT: Too many penalties! Let the kids play for Christ's sake.

I also like how people are already complaining about penalties

That last Canadian one was definitely a penalty. And in theory, that was a good call on the Russians, but Giroux was holding his stick too. Ah well, retaliation gets called

Edit: The Russians really just look better than Canada in just about every way. I don't expect Canada to stay so weak, but man they definitely look like the worse team and deserve to be down 2-0

I agree that it was a penalty, it's just there's been like 5 PPs already I think. The entire period has been played on special teams. The "tripping" call was terrible.

well, the players haven't been terribly disciplined. Anyways, doesn't seem like Anisimov is getting a ton of time...Russia almost seems to be riding one line more often. Maybe they just all look the same though and all seem to be number 20-something

Anisimov hasn't seen a lot of icetime, from what I can tell. Haven't seen him do a lot yet.

Cherepanov looks confident with the puck, but hasn't gotten a lot of chances yet. I think he likes the behind the back drop pass a bit too much though

Weak goal by Varlamov

both have been contained well.

anytime chere gets the puck, there is one man on him, and another going towards him, and they are hitting him everytime he touches the puck. AA looks like a giant out there, but hasnt really done much of note.

Canada scores.

Cherepanov has looked speedy and solid on the puck, mostly on the PP as pretty much the entire period has been played on the PP or SH. He's made a couple nice passes, and a good steal that led to a 2-on-1.

Anisimov hasn't been that active, he's centered the 2nd PP unit. Not much to note on his play so far.

Canada back in it 2-1.
