I dunno i would be so sure of it they way that Stan Fischler was raving when he saw him in Central Park, it seems to me that he might be ready to prove himself once again in training camp, and work his way back onto the roster.

I hope Kaspar walked by a MRI or X-Ray machine also. He can look great. Doesn't mean that all is right inside or that he is in game shape.
I'd love to have Kasper back, but it will be incredibly tough for him to prove his value in training camp, since the skills a dman needs to display are quickness, endurance & conditioning and positioning. How will his style of feisty defensive play be able to be shown in camp?
We'll just have to hope that he's not lost via waivers and that he'll be able to teach some of our young guys something about playing in the nhl. or at best that some team will be willing to accept his salary via trade.
That sounds super, but the rangers have 9 other defensemen ahead of him that are also in the "best shape" of their lives...
thats nice but they are not either at their peaks or over the hill.we dont have 9 better ones, btw have you seen him play lately, he lost weight, he is a lot quicker, think early 20s kasper. and happy, he can and will do it

Even if he were, the door has closed for him here. Age, huge contract, durability, cap issues, no roster spots - all of these things are stacking up against him.
Best case is he does a great job in camp some other team needs him and picks him up (and his full salary). But at his age and price tag who is going to do that?
I just hope, in an effort to prove he still can play, he doesn’t hurt someone in camp. Especially someone who has a real shot at the roster.

You actually think Kaspar turned back the clock and denied father time? That he's not over the hill?
I applaud your optimism, but points off for too much wishful thinking.
There's just no possible way that Kaspar is not just in shape, but can suddenly play the game required of a top 4 defenseman that his price tag demands.
I'm not rooting against the guy, but you have to be realistic.

A team with cap room that would be doing us a huge favor in exchange for a player, prospect or pick(s) you don't want to give up. Lou was unable to unload Malacough under a similar scenario, so there is at least precedent for it happening. Likelihood is another story, but you never know.
$2,989,333 is the answer for all of the questions concerning Darius Kasparaitis playing for the Rangers
The Devils had no other available options but to give up a #1 pick to SJ to unload Malakhov's salary because Louie Lame gave him a two year contract to a player 35 years or older

Kasparaitis does not fall under that situation
Obviously, it's not the same situation and I'm not saying it's the only option, merely raising it as an option.
For Kaspar to get a roster spot in this team, he has to perform like a $3.3 million defenseman AND convince the staff it's worth keeping him by trading Malik or Mara by outplaying them.
He basically has to prove he is a defensive upgrade that is worth $3.3 million, in a salary cap world. This will be very hard to accomplish. I can't say it's impossible, but almost.

I would guess that there are probably 12-15 Rangers defensemen in the system that are better than Kaspar at this point. How can someone who stunk at 33 be good at 35? Unless he's on steroids it's all nonsense of the highest order.

even if he was on steriods he would've had to have cycled off about two weeks ago to get it out of his system..
I'm dead serious. There's 8 or 9 already on the roster that are better. Throw in Staal, Baranka, Liffiton, Sanguenetti and Sauer. I sincerely would rather see any of them in a Rangers uniform before Kaspar.
A few aren't ready quite yet and I doubt Liffiton ever will be but all are ahead of Kaspar who totally stunk up the ice his last time through. Now he's two years older. At his peak as a Ranger he was barely passable as an NHL'er. That's the worst part of all of those that scream they want him.
He has no physical presence whatsoever. If he throws a check, even blindside, he goes down while the opponent skates away and that was two years ago. Combine that with absolute zero offense and you have nothing.
The bottom line does remain that if he is good enough he will play but if I could place a wager against in Vegas I'd round up all of the money I could.
