Fight song?

How come we don't have a fight song? A lot of soccer teams have them and even football teams. We need one I say.

I mean the dolphins have one that goes
Quote:
(Verse)
Miami has the Dolphins,
The greatest football team!
We take the ball from goal to goal,
Like no one's ever seen!
We're in the air,
We're on the ground,
We're always in control.
So when you say Miami,
You're talking Super Bowl!

(Chorus 1)
Cause we're the Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins Number 1.

(Chorus 2)
Yes we're the Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins Number 1.

(Repeat)
Of course Jets fans like to chant it a bit, but that's another thread

Anyway I think we need a fight song to sing during games, would make it much more fun than just "let's go rangers" and "potvin sucks"

I guess the closest thing to a "fight song" would be the Rangers victory song, Dancin Larry's shtick and Sweet Caroline...

Ah those are hardly songs. We need songs about the Rangers to sing as a crowd during games.

Here are the lyrics to Coots' "Rangers Victory Song":

Verse
Listen to the cheering of the people in the stands
Twenty Thousand hockey bugs and each a Ranger fan!
It's plain as day to see
They want a victory!
All together now strike up the band!

Chorus
Just keep your stick on that puck
And don't lay down on your luck;
That's the Rangers' Victory Song!
Get through the enemy's goal
With all your heart and your soul;
That's the Rangers' Victory Song!

You've got to fight, Rangers fight
With a grin on your chin!
Tonight is the night
So get in there and win!

This game is worth any price;
Go out and put it on ice
That's the Rangers' Victory Song!

NYRThe "Rangers Victory Song" was written in 1940 by J. Fred Coots in tribute to the team that finished the 1939-40 season as Stanley Cup champions. He officially dedicated the song to "Lester Patrick and the New York Rangers."

In addition to being a native New Yorker and avid Rangers fan, Coots was a nationally-known songwriter who authored more than 700 songs. His most famous works included "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Love Letters in the Sand."

I don't think you can sing that during a game . Although it would be cool for everyone to sign after they win.

Heck, this was in Toronto
http://youtube.com/watch?v=RmFnMxppiVI

And they were just signing one stupid thing. Why couldn't MSG sound like that?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6e4tLV8JsLQ
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BgUkVJs4qlU

here's more from Toronto soccer games.

What hockey crowds can't be like this because we're too cool or something? I don't even think Leafs fans are like this.

maybe an idea would be to adapt some of the English Premiership chants.....

We are Chelsea and we are the best, We are chelsea and f.ck all the rest, fxck'm all, fxck'm all, West Ham, ManU and Liverpool....

I am fulham til I die, I am fulham til I die.....

Same ol'Arsenal - always cheatin......

and so on....these could be adapted to fit the needs....

some of you hockey fans need to join us at a New York red Bulls (Metrostars) game. We stand and sing the entire game. a lot of the chants would be perfect for MSG at rangers games, except when I try to start them, people just stare at me....... weirdos.....

It's never gonna happen here. Different cultures are different cultures.

you are right about the cultures.....

so much so that Gary Glitter Rockn'Roll won't get no airing in the UK - nowhere, never!

While in the US it is still hugely popular at sports venues.....

Now this is tough to stomach - US clubs financially subsidizing a repeat paedophile offender by playing that tune!

Jaromir Jagr ole! \ Jaromir Jagr ole!
vůdce z Rangers ole! \ Captain of Rangers ole!
nás vést na vítězství ole! \ Lead us to victory ole!

I don't know if that's proper Czech grammar or if the words even translate properly, but yeah.

A brilliant song, which Glasgow Celtic adopted, too.

Celtic has some GREAT chants and songs. I'd like to see some of them adapted for our boys... especially since they use that god awful "R-A-N-G-E-R-S" song they stole from those filthy huns Glasgow Rangers.

This one is a tad clumsy, but how about...
(to the tune of "Glory, Glory Hallelujah")

"The famous Islanders went to Rome to see the Pope...
the famous Islanders went to Rome to see the Pope...
the famous Islanders went to Rome to see the Pope...
And this is what he said:
Who the ****** are the Islanders...
who the ****** are the Islanders...
who the ****** are the Islanders...
The Blueshirts are marching on!"

I'll try to adapt some others...

Classic. It's so random, it would be outstanding to hear at MSG.

The only way something like this would go down though is if we had an HFboards game where we had like 30 or more of us go to a game as a group and then everyone in the section start chanting.

I'd be in. A lot of my New York Red Bulls soccer friends are also New York Rangers hockey fans and they would be in as well.

How the hell do you get 30 seats at MSG? lol.

We might have to do this at a NYR game at the Mausleum.....

To get this kind of thing going, a fan group would have to get together with the Garden and have some sort of lyric put up on Gardenvision or on the power ring. Sing-a-long sheets would just end up as litter. But, I think we have too much of a "go ahead, impress us" attitude to just spontaneously sing in unison. Chants are just easier.

And I think it would also be shocking to not point out Portsmouth FC when talking about football singing. They sing louder and longer than the scousers while only having a 20k seat stadium. And they also have this guy, who puts pretty much everyone in the world who supports any team to shame.

http://nyrangers.com/tickets/groupsales.asp
Who's down for 11/1 against Washington or 1/8 against Tampa?

Quote:
$30.00 and $46.00 tickets available for groups of 20 or more. For groups of less than 20, tickets are priced at $34.50 and $50.50. Tickets originally priced at the Box Office for $40.50 and $62.50.

Games in bold include passes to an exclusive pre-game autograph session! (Washington/Tampa games)
Receive an autograph from a Rangers alumnus including Glenn Anderson, Jeff Beukeboom, Rod Gilbert, Adam Graves, Ron Greschner, Stephane Matteau or Brian Mullen. Sessions begin at 5:30PM. Specific alumni in attendance for the autograph session are TBD. One alumnus per night, one autograph per person. Limited availability.
The way I see it, we have a sign up list. Then a mod creates a paypal account where everyone deposits the money. Then we buy the tickets and everyone brings their IDs for verification purposes.

Then we can get tix in the 400s and have a blast.

If you would like to bring people just make sure to mention when you sign up. That's if we can get everyone to go. Also requirement is that you act like an ass and sing like one too.

Absolutely I would be in for something like this.....
I know quite a few soccer/hockey friends of mine who'd love to do this as well....
