Not Sure how they picked who would get the bye. But one team from each conference would get a bye first round (they do not do face offs of east vs west until the finals)

they were given first round byes because when he first started the site it was a "season style" format...basically the avalanche (and everyone for that matter) matched up against every logo in the nhl ...ie avs vs oilers ....he would decide who had the best logo (himself....he has just recently changed to fan voting)...and his criteria were that he himself did not like a logo with words in it....did not like a logo with a stick/puck etc in it....and also matched the logos with what the team was (ie....and this one was great!...oilers vs sharks....if an offshore oiler fell into the ocean and battled a shark he would have no chance..lol)...so basically the teams logo had a record...the avs were like 13-2 or something and the hurricanes were like 12-3 at the time that fan voting started....and because of the odd number of teams for this set-up the avs and canes got the bye as they were "his" top 2 logos via his voting system....he has been thinking of doing different set ups to this tournament as well .....

although i am glad we are all starting to get behind the team and vote!!!...i tried to get us going in the first round of this tournament (posted a forum with the nhl logo link) and got a whole bunch of slag for it...ppl (sens fans) stating that they would actually vote for another logo instead of our teams if they thought it was better in their own opinion....im not that type of fan!...my teams logo is the best! hands down!.....i would vote for our logo if it was a nutty pile of poo on the chest of our guys!...cause its on our guys...our team!!!...go sens go!!!!...and vote fans vote (but hopefully only for our sens!...lol)

Must be a slow afternoon in 'Beantown' because they just pulled ahead by one vote! Get on that Sens-Nation! By the way, does anyone know how often you're allowed to vote?

I just read their forum and they are cheating.

If you dont have a static IP disconnect from teh Net, clear your cookies, reconnect to the net and re-vote. If you have a router managing your connection you can do this in under 30 seconds

You can just have Firefox and IE open and vote and vote and vote and vote...generally you can vote twice/5 minutes or so. Don't think it's cheating either way, they just had to use a polling method that counts one vote only...know several papers and websites have such methods.

BSF, I tried this, it doesn't work for me. What I find is that if your internet service provider is Sympatico, you're laughing. All you need to do is disconnect and reconnect and vote again in under one minute (resets your IP address). If you're with Rogers FORGET IT (static IP - the thing NEVER changes - NEVER). There's nothing, it seems, that you can do to vote again unless you wait at least 3 hours it seems. The router thing doesn't work either.

P.S. Don't forget to vote and vote often. Also we should help out the Devils, or we might get steamrolled by the Habs in the semis......
