Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Tampa Bay Lightning have selected HiTech Electronic Displays of Clearwater, FL to design, create and develop a new, multi-million dollar video board system for the St. Pete Times Forum, President Ronald J. Campbell announced today. The video board system will be installed in the Times Forum this September and will be fully operational for the Lightning’s regular season home opener versus the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, October 4.
Team spokesman Bill Wickett said the scoreboard, which is not yet installed and will ultimately be paid for out of the $35-million in tourist taxes Hillsborough County has made available for the arena's upkeep
I wonder if the new ownership will pay for some of it.
Doesn't look like it. From the Tampa Bay Business Journal:

The value of the contract was not disclosed, though it is being paid for through a prior $35 million allocation from Hillsborough County for upgrades to the arena, a Lightning spokesman said. HiTech was chosen over several national competitors, he added.
Any photos of the new scoreboard down there in Tampa yet?
its not up yet... and im not 100% sure it will be up and operational until opening night...so you probably wont see any fully working pics until then... might get some leaked "progress" pics sometime in the next few weeks though... man i cant wait!
Looks sharp, I would put something on the bottom to cover that black hole though, something like at the ACC.
I think I read that there is going to be a 360 degree circle on the very bottom of it. Maybe it's not complete yet. It does look odd without something underneath it since it doesn't exactly taper down like the old one.
