Wow...just what Atlanta needs...A 6 or 7 dman. He's probably headed for Chicago.

More insurance in case the rookies aren't ready for prime time.

McCarthy, Pilar, Kwiatkowski, Enstrom, and Popovic should all be fighting for the last two D slots.

Why sign him? Try to talk Danny Markov out of his wallet and give him a reasonable contract!

I see our D-men being

Zhitnik
Havelid

Exelby
McCarthy

Valabik/Enstrom/Oystrick
Klee

Most likely one of either Popovic or Pilar would make the team ahead of Valabik, Enstrom and/or Oystrick. Kwiatkowski is a depth move for the #7 spot and Chicago. Camp will determine who makes the team.

My guess is it went something like this. Chicago went looking for a veteran defenseman. As part of the lure, they promised they'd get him on an Atlanta contract. Since Atlanta, for once, isn't pushing the 50-contract limit, they said fine. This stuff happens all the time.

He plays in Chicago as the token veteran D and everyone is happy. Except the conspiracy theorists.

Blah blah blah...this is old news. "Eklund" posted this on the trade rumors board here yesterday and it was erased within five minutes in typical HF fashion.

But make sure y'all come to HF tomorrow to read links to tsn or spectors or to know what some 13yr. old from BC thinks is a fair trade for Marleau.

And I have no problem with this signing, a younger faster Hnidy.

All I can tell you is that the Pens defense was pretty bad last year, and still, Kwiatkowski never played. I wouldn't expect much.

I'd assume he's gonna be in Chicago. Based on Enstrom's contract, it's safe to say that unless he really screws up in camp, he's got a very good shot at the Thrashers, and Popovic would have just about as good a chance.

Zhitnik-Havelid
Exelby-Popovic
Klee-Enstrom
McCarthy

With the young guys trading spots with McCarthy if they don't perform well enough. Pilar would probably be the first guy called up in case of injury.

That's a pretty big overestimate of Kiwi's talents.

I wish the best for Pilar (Toronto fan) he was really good here just had some sort of virus issue and couldn't play anymore he's got the skills I hope he can make the team.

My guess is this may push Chad Denny down to Gwinnett this season.
