Where to buy plastic inserts?

I wanna add some extra protection to some gear of mine, a C/A and my shoulder pads.

I know where to get some nice high density foams, but where would one turn to find plastic inserts? Internet? A major American hardware store?

I guess I could buy some really cheap, used gear and tear it apart but I'd rather not try to go that route.

If you aren't a member of the goaliestore.com I would recommend going there. There is a thread dedicated to doing mods to gear so I suspect you could find your answer there.
