I've been looking at the standings and something makes me wonder.

Habs are 20-15-5-2, while other teams behind have less losses, more ties (counting OT losses) but less wins. IMO, it could mean at the end of the season that if there's a tie breaker and the Habs still have few ties and more wins, they can get away with the tie breaker.

Is it a little too farfetched?

You're right, it's way too early to think of tie-breakers... but yes more wins is a definite plus.

Oh boy, for a second there I thought it would be a "prepare the Stanley Cup parade!" post...

And by the way, let's hope it won't get to where the Habs will need the tie-breaker to get in the playoffs... Finishing the season with 85-90 points would be just fine, if you ask me.

It all depends on what kind of help every team in the hunt will get before the trade deadline.

Let's not forget that very important factor.
And from Gainey's comments in the last few days, I think he's very aware of that and will make of his own to at least equal any reinforcement the other teams get.
