We still need 2 more to make 28. If we went with 26 teams, we would need to go with conference playoffs, rather than division as in the past. Top 3 get byes and bottom 10 meet in the first round to take us to 16 for round two.
Spitfire11 and all other GMs from #7 that don't have a team have declined for this draft.
My thoughts on the 6 minor league starters option are as follows:
It would take 140 players out of the MLD pool with 28 teams, none of which would be goalies. Teams joining the draft could take their 6 players with them, and new GMs could take a 6 from a none participating team, thus reducing the pool hit to 80 for a 10 team MLD. There were more than 80 previously drafted players left unselected at the end of the last MLD.
I'm a big fan of this idea. How often has a team been hit by major injuries or a flu bug or something in a playoff run or during the year? The quality of minor leaguers who can fill in would be a fun thing to add to the equation when rating teams. How much value judges would place on it would be up to each person.
The "Société de transport de la communauté urbaine de Montréal Series". It rolls off the tongue.
IT's now call the Société de Transport de Montréal... A bit shorter, but the "Société de Transport de Montréal Brawl" doesn't sound like a rivalry at all --- It more sounds like some Crips vs. Blood fightin'...
Too bad #66 didn't registered the Aces. We could have had the Battle of the 20 (MTL vs. QUE), Battle of the 10 (MTL vs. SHE) and Battle of the 55 (QUE vs. SHE)
Hey guys, sorry I couldn't be active in this most of the summer. I was away for a lot of it, so it was tough finding a computer, and with school starting and everything, it was hard to keep up. Anyways, I still want in, and I think I'm going to do it on my own as well. I pm'd BM67 about it, but I'll confirm it on here as well.
Confirm this with me, and I'll post my team name and my vote.
Wow, I'm pleased to see that we picked up two more GMs at the last minute. Now that we have 28 franchises, let's go ahead with the lottery. Team names, geography and conference alignment can be worked out during the course of the week in-between the lottery and the Bobby Orr pick.

BM67 said there will be one week notice given before the beginning of the draft, so that'll be plenty of time to trade picks.
I thought about renaming the squad Bad Newz Kennelz, but I think I'll stick with:
Aurora Tigers
I guess we're going east vs. west then, unless the two unnamed franchises are both outside of Canada.
Bad Newz Kennelz would have gotten you at least one bonus vote from me, though you'd have been obliged to draft Tiger Williams, Hooley Smith, Clark Gillies and as many other assorted thugs as could be reasonably and sensibly acquired.

The Cherry Division once again appears to be the toughest, with several veteran GMs.
As for my division, what more can I say? I finally get HO and VanI in my division. Should result in some excellent banter. With HO, VanI, raleh and me in one division, silence shouldn't be a problem.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but every division has a final 4 competator from last time.
Yep. There are some nice, traditional rivalries (FIT2 vs. Murphy, BM vs. LL), some potential re-matches (BM vs. JFF, Murphy vs. FIT2, Murphy vs. pit, arrbez vs. pappy) and the potential for some new rivalries to be formed. I'm looking forward to some good "wars of words" with HO and VanI. VanI and HO were partners on the team that won the last minor league draft.
Cherry Division looks strong. That division will have a survivor. Cole Division really looks tough. pit, Murph, the Inmate and Speaker always piece together double-tough teams. Three other veteran GMs there, too.
Quick breakdown on my division: HO is always a contender, VanI's team is always one of the toughest to play against, MXD had a good first impression team in the last draft, and doctordark tracked the last draft closely, so he shouldn't have much of a transition to this draft. I have no idea what to expect from 70s or nik jr.'s entry, although I've earned respect for them based on takes in the History section. But now you boys are running with the big dogs.
Definitely the wildcard, the least experienced of all divisions, but that don't mean much. Reckoning is a great vet who has almost exactly the same draft spot as last time. Shawn Mullin is one of the most unpredictable vets because he has his rookie draft and then a co-gm draft, who knows what mix he'll concoct this time. Weird having Wisent in my division as I'm probably the biggest fan of his teams in this draft. Naturally, I expect Sturm and I to win. But the rookies can make some noise for sure.
Why is the Cherry division always the group of death?
And I know how to ensure a top 4 pick. Plan vigourously on the assumption you'll be drafting outside the top 10.
