great game coming up!!! sure both teams are in a slump right now, but then BOTH teams are calling this game the game that will turn the season. Kings have been winless in 8 while Ducks are scrounging the bottom of the conference and both are hungry for a win! here some news articles to kill ur time with!
"History breeds rivalries and the Ducks and Kings have been in the process of building that history," said Ducks wing Dan Bylsma, who has seen the Kings-Ducks version from both sides (four seasons with each team). "It's not Boston-Montreal or Toronto-Detroit where those teams go back to the 'Original Six' days and there have been playoff series. You're not going to get the same kind of rivalry.
"But there is certainly a different feeling when we're playing the Kings than if we were playing Atlanta - or even compared to other teams we play a lot from our division. The building is always full. The crowds are into it. You know you're sharing the same area, sharing the same fans."
That time-share arrangement is obvious whenever the Ducks and Kings meet, as they do tonight at Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. Fans of both teams find their way up (or down) the Santa Ana (5) Freeway to fill The Pond or Staples Center and make their presence felt. This rivalry might have been built from the top down, with the passion of the fans carrying over on the ice.
"The biggest factor (in making it a rivalry) is the crowd," Ducks captain Steve Rucchin said. "They're really into it and it definitely leads to more intensity on the ice - not that we need it. But it is definitely a charged atmosphere whenever we play them."
"It's probably more of a rivalry because of the crowd," Ducks defenseman Ruslan Salei said. "With all of their fans in our building, it makes it more intense. ... That's been a problem as long as I've been here."
Ooh! a Nazi snob! He's snied, he's snippy, he's superfluous.
It's a growing rivalry. Vishinator05 is right, Ducks and Kings fans hate each other and I think it rubs off on the players whenever they meet up on the ice. It makes the game that much more fun and intense. You have to really live here to understand. The Ducks are just down the 5 freeway... the proximity is what makes it even better.
yeah, this ranks up there with COL vs. DET, NYR vs. NYI, MON vs. BOS, NYI vs. TOR, etc...
maybe TB vs. FL is more like it.
i'm guessin u never seen the games. 4 news articles written prior to the game shows that it's going to be a big game. in case u havne't ntoiced yet, this is LA, hardly hockey country and anytime they write a preview of ANYTHING regarding hockey, tha'ts already huge. we hardly get coverage on things that occurred, so to see articles pop up prior to it makes me happy
it's going to be a very good game, both teams are calling for a change, using this game as the marker.
This one will be a good one. But um.. Im a Kings fan.. Ducks win this one in OT 3-2. Everyone is picking L.A. I hope L.A. San Jose beat Vancouver the other night with a late 3rd Period Goal. Dallas tied ANA. Must win for the Kings.
