"Sens' Goalie values rough start as pro"

(how do you make text with the link?)

Quote:
Elliott doesn't regret getting thrown to the wolves in Bingo last year. Now he knows what to expect.

"I think it was a good idea to do that, because now I know what I'm going into," he said.

"I've known all summer what kind of play I'd be facing, so it gives you some confidence going into the year because you can step right in with no lag time.

It was a good experience. I just take it with a grain of salt, with the way things turned out with wins and losses. They didn't have the best team last year, but hopefully this year we can have a different team.
There's a lot more to the article to...

and in another article about Emery, Murray says he could have as many as 55 in camp this year.

We lost 2-1 to Florida in our first rookie match, Steven DaSilva scored our lone goal (this part is in the article linked)

More on Elliot in the Sun

Quote:
Murray impressed

Senators GM Bryan Murray, who watched Elliott for the first time since taking over that post in June, liked what he saw.

"He's very athletic," said Murray. "I thought he made some really good stops. Both teams gave up some scoring chances. He played well. He looks like a really poised kid.

I don't know if Elliott is the "one". Great goalies are hard to come by and I still don't think we have an NHL bound goalie in any of our prospects ... yet.. Hopefully Brian will have a bangout year and change my attitude but In Binghamton, goalie trust is very hard to earn....especially now.

I think that goalie trust is very hard to earn around the Sens organization in general. If you read a lot of the posts around here it looks like we've got the 2 worst goalies in the league. Elliott sounds intruiging though, particularly with a g.a.a under 2 in college. Of course that's just college so it'll be interesting to see if he does develop into a #1.

Good article. Sounds like the kid's got a good attitude.

Hopefully, he'll have a much better year in Bingo this year. Ideally, if he's ready to back-up Emery in 08/09 that would save us from having to go and get a veteran #2.

(Notice how I just wrote off Gerber there? See how easy that was?)

By the time 2010 comes around, he'll be fighting for the #1 spot.

Glass is still with the organization, and it's expected that he'll be battling Elliott for the number 1 job. Guard was allowed to become an UFA this summer, so he's no longer Ottawa property. Haven't been following him so I don't know if he's signed in Europe, ECHL, AHL, etc.
