During the scrimmage Denis was the most impressive by far. He stoned Marty twice on two very good scoring chances. He was not however very impressive during drills and looked very frustrated to me. But during the scrimmage, he was definately the man. Very sharp. Ramo would have been my second choice today, he has an awesome blocker. Homer just looked okay to me. I was amazed at how hard Marty works, he runs circles around everyone. Richie looked relaxed and sharp as did Vinny4. Dan Boyle was uninvolved IMO. And I swear Smaby was about to die during laps. Poor boy.

Tortorella said the first cuts will be made after Saturday’s preseason game against Washington, and while he hadn’t discussed it with Bolts GM Jay Feaster yet, he’s hoping to trim the current 33-man roster to 25 or 26.

Team white pulled out a win today.. 2-1... The game was a little more lively today... Holmer didn't look as sharp to me as he has been... Denis and Ramo looked good in the game... though Denis got smoked in some of the drills they were doing with Marty/Vinny's group..and he dropped the f-word a few times.... You can sure tell new asst. couch has some Boston roots... he was talking to the guys during a drill and he said "yous guys gotta" made me laugh...

Finally, a winner. After two consecutive days of 1-1 results, Team White rallied to post a 2-1 victory Monday morning for the first victory by either team through three days of scrimmages.
Vinny Prospal scored for Team Black while Chris Gratton and Jason Ward picked up the goals for Team White.

Sounds nerdy or weird or whatever, but Ramo's Vaughn V3's look awesome (best pad design I've seen in years), I'm glad Holmer kept his circular Sherwood pads as that's an awesome design as well. I'm still out on Denis's new look. It has a ton more black and blue than his 06-07 look.

Remember "Good is the Enemy of Great,'' the words of wisdom posted by coach John Tortorella during the 2003-04 Stanley Cup season? How about "Details of Discipline, Discipline of Details in 2005-06, or last season's "Reteach, Rebuild, Recreate"?
Well, the 2007-08 model has been posted in the Lightning locker room at the Ice Sports Forum. It is as follows: You are what you think you are. You become what you believe you will become. We are a good team. We will become a great team.''

Alot went on in camp today.... Hlavac didn't play in the scrimmage game..guess he is still hurt from the puck to the foot yesterday... Vinny has a cold or sore throat at the very least...he was wearing his turtle neck and the trainer brought him out some chloraseptic spray for his throat... Team white showed up to play today ...and won 3-0...Holmer was NOT sharp at all.....Denis and Ramo looked solid... Brad Richards line with Ouellet and Karlsson looked really good..

The biggest excitment happened at with 1:09 left in the scrimmage game...As Roy came on to the ice Darche hit him and he fell backwards and the door was still open and his back hit right on the frame...he hit the ice in pain....Torts called an end to the game...Roy laid on the ice with the trainers checking him out... He left the ice on his own but was in alot of pain...he didn't do the drills today....He did come out and talk to the media after practice and said he had a bruised tailbone...

heh...this is gonna REALLY test all the "this is an open goalie tryout for all 3" talking we have been hearing...

seems to me denis has been the sharpest in camp and if he continues this throughout the preseason games would have earned the starting job on opening night....

should be interesting to watch it play out.... and see if homer was going to be the number 1 no matter what....

I hope Marc can shake off last season and prove that he is capable of being a number one.

Denis will be #1 opening night.

I think some will definately feel foolish to write him off so early

I think it is a bit early to be making that proclamation, especially with all the goalies playing well in camp so far.

No Consensus Number 1 Yet

I would agree, there is a lot left in training camp and the preseason games should tell us a lot about where the goaltending will shake out.

But I do have to give Denis credit. He showed up ready to play and in shape. His stats so far are outstanding. Hopefully this will continue and he and the fans can put last year behind us.

I would prefer to see Ramo in the "A" this year. He will get the work that he needs rather than sitting on the bench in Tampa as a back up. He is always a phone call away if need be.

I'm in a small minority that would rather see Ramo weened into the job here as he is the only truly dominant goaltender we have on the ice right now. Denis and Holmqvist to me are serviceable 1B type guys that have proven over their careers to not be the guy that will take any team over the top, neither are the type of goaltender like a Khabibulin was for us in the Cup run. Theres a small window from here out to win the Cup I think and wasting another year on these two (Holmer, Denis or Denis, Holmer) is an unwise decision.

I think Pete at BoltProspects made an excellent argument for Ramo and against keeping these two, but if it is what happens, I hope that Denis does decide to come out and play above his head fro an entire season and not just in Training Camp. One of them would definitely have to step up and be top-15 in the league for this team to make that serious run this year...I do really hope they do it as I kind of enjoyed all the Stanley Cup games I went to

It seems to me that Holmqvist is really playing himself out of a job. He's having a hard enough time holding up decent stats in camp scrimmage games. Ramo and Denis seem to be really on the ball.

Of course this IS just camp, so you can't put too much stock into the stats so far.

I still think it's already a done deal that Ramo will take over the number 1 spot at some point during this season.

Training camp last year ....Denis came in and looked like total **** in camp then played like **** all season... This training camp he has looked sharp and on his game..sooooooo hopefully that will carry over into the regular season.... Holmer has not looked good the past few days, but with him who knows.. Ramo has also looked sharp and is playing like he belongs here..

To me if we have 3 fighting for the number one with ALL of them playing like number ones ....more power to them.. I just don't want to go thru another season losing games because our goaltender can't stop a beach ball..
