I'm thinking maybe he's talking about Hlavac or atleast sending a message here....

Torts on injuries in general: "You don't find a position within your hockey club when you're sitting in the tub. I'm not too interested in players because they're sore they're going to miss some time. If they're hurt, that's fine. I think the new guys come in, I think that needs to be defined right away. It hasn't put anybody behind yet, but if it continues, it sure hurts people, and I'm not going to wait. Guys get hurt and it creates other opportunities. I'm not going to wait because of a name or because of someone projected. I'm not too interested in projections. I'm interested in getting people on the ice and getting their work done. I'm not coming down on any body here, I just want define it. Everybody is sore. Everybody is nicked up once you start camp. That's what we go by here. We're looking for people to get through things and find a way and not get put behind because we're not going to wait. If another guy steps up they're going to get that opportunity.''

I'm pretty sure Chris Lawrence is the only one on that list in camp. I'll look for what # he's wearing, but unless I'm incorrect, the rest of the list wasn't in camp.

Someone correct me if I am wrong of course.

Lawrence's Location

Chris Lawrence is currently in the Norfolk Admirals camp. Recently got some praise from Coach Stirling for his efforts.

That's not the Lightning roster, but looks more like the Norfolk roster.

Seems like the last two lines should be switched. Smaby paired with Lukowich is sort of a tell he has a leg up on the rest of the pack for the #6 spot. With how Janik has had a strong camp, I wonder if they'll switch at any point.

Smaby has been paired with Luko since the beginning of camp. I don't see them making a change unless Smaby is sent down.

So far who has the edge starting goaltending wise? Is there one or two guys who are stepping up?

Denis has looked good in camp, looked good against Dallas. Homer has struggled a bit in camp, gets the start tonight. Ramo looked good in camp, he should get a start soon.

Coach John Tortorella and assistant Mike Sullivan are preaching a tougher, more confrontational defensive style in which opponents are better slowed at the blue line and more forcefully challenged physically in the defensive zone.
The idea is to take away time, space and the ability to make plays and, most important, get back the puck.
It's not a change in philosophy, Tortorella said, "because it's something we've always talked about," but "a point of emphasis."
Tortorella said getting a stick on the puck, the legacy of former associate coach Craig Ramsay, still is "a very important facet of the game."

This just makes me wonder what is his "upper body injury".....

Quote:
Vinny Lecavalier (undisclosed upper body injury) will not play tonight but skated and said whatever is bothering him is nothing to worry about. He said if it were the regular season he would be playing. Tortorella said there is no reason to rush Lecavalier, anyway. It's not like he is trying out.

Good idea to just hold him out. If it was up to me, the big 3 wouldn't step on the ice for another preseason game.

Ryan Craig is out indefinitely with a herniated disc in his back. Craig had been scratched from Saturday's game with what was described a back spasms.

They did power play drills today... Not sure if these are what they will go with in a game..

Unit one:
Vinny-Marty-Brad-Kuba-Ouellet
Unit two:
Gratton-Karlsson-O'Brien-Prospal-Janik

They then went over with the whole group (except Brad) and did a full practice... Jason Ward hit the ice hard after running into someone and limped off the ice and didn't come back...Looked like his knee was giving him trouble... Gratton and Ouellet were both on the ice today... Gratton's eye looks like crap....LOL The guys weren't doing some drill right...and Torts was dropping the f-bomb left and right...The d-men were getting the worst of it...

Torts said he would not make final cuts until after Saturday's game in Dallas. He still believes he will keep 21 or 22 players.
