im sure many different players have been taken at the # 5 slot over the yrs Hull is certainly worthy of a # 5 selection.

Pappy probably thought Hull was safely his with the #9 pick. If I had the #5 pick I'd strongly consider him, probably take him as a matter of fact.

There's been 4 *** days to try and trade down, you want to do this now?

Is it really to much to ask that teams be ready to pick when their time comes around? Apparently it is......

Murphy if you read the rest of the thread you'd see that the official clock doesn't start until Saturday.

MXD has as much time as he wants.

Whoooo...
I've posted trade down offers on the sign-up thread that some people might have missed. I re-post it here : anyways, the draft was supposed to start on saturday, and I learned like... now... that it started, which is fine if it's to make things go faster, but is it a reason to have a 2-hour clock instead of a 12-hour clock?

Les Castors de Sherbrooke selects a legend that played "somewhere on the other extremity of the l'Autoroute des Cantons-de-l'Est".

I have Hull at #6 on my shortlist, so, I wouldn't say #5 is early.IMO, players you'd take 5-10 are largely interchangable, not worth the risk to take down if one stands out to you personally.

I'm surprised a French Canadien would even concider trading down when faced with a chance to take Maurice Richard.

In a move that I'm sure will surprise nobody considering my prior ATD drafting history, the Ottawa 67s select:

Eddie Shore

Uhm. To say I hadn't thought of a single candidate other than Shore is an understatement. Yeah Big Four, or Hull, but... you couldn't... you wouldn't...

Pick to come in the hour. If I can scrape my jaw off the floor.

Surprising; I was sure EvilSpeaker was going to pick Eddie Shore. Still, Hull at #5 is good value and ES will have one of the top three or four bluelines in the draft even if he doesn't get Shore, so it was probably a good move to take the consensus #1 LW.

What's the time limit for a first-round pick?

I would have taken him 5th, and seeing as Evil Speaker is a Bruins fan and defense fan, thought he would.

Either way, great pick, any division with Gretzky and Shore as the best players is sure to be interesting.

Currently no time limit. Friday or Saturday we'll start having them. Ease people into the intensity.

I was surprised as well, but like you said, basically the #5 through 10 guys are pretty much interchangeable.

Divisional Rivalries have begun!

Eddie Shore of the 67s will have his hands full with Wayne Gretzky of the Seals in the Foster Hewitt

Bobby Orr of the Clippers will trade end-to-end puck hoggin' surges with Bobby Hull of the Bruins in the Bob Cole

Maurice Richard will lead a top line in Sherbrooke with Gordie Howe on the top line in Seattle in the Foster Hewitt.

The staff in Halifax had Shore pegged for No. 5, too. E-Speak loves his blue-liners. And he loves his Bruins. (Although that gets harder each passing year). I think E-Speak even had Shore for his avatar for a while. (If it wasn't Shore, don't correct me until after the player has been picked, Speaker). It seemed to be a match made in heaven.

I knew that Shore wouldn't get past reck. I would have wagered a lot of money on it. Maybe I should have told E-Sather that information. I think reck has had Shore in three of his four drafts.

Thrown a bit for a loop, the New York Rangers are nonetheless proud to select someone who is our BPA since we're all about value, LW Zdeno Cige... wait. Really? Oh, alright, but if he fails, it's on your head! This one is all the scouting director. The Rangers select C Jean Beliveau.

Size, skill, class, grace, but no shrinking violet, he was a fantastic presence in the locker room and the longest serving Captain in Canadiens history at ten years. What more needs to be said?

That might be the least surprising news of the day, outside of Lemieux going No. 4 overall. I knew from the moment you picked Hull that you would trade him to pappy. Nice strategy.

Is pappy still awake to confirm this?
