From BB reports it looks like Marc Staal is heading to HFD so far...

Jagr is Jagr, but hopefully Marc will kick in a bit...

Sure, first day in a camp and playing against Jagr...i know.
But still, the fact that he was undressed by JJ all the time kinda worries me...

there's been norris trophy winners who've been regularly undressed by Jagr.

Look what Jagr has one in his career - 600+ goals, 1500+ pts... do you not think that several players have been burnt more than once in that time on those goals???

Give the kid a break, after all dont we learn by our mistakes?

I'd rather he get taught by Jagr than some punk. If he has a baptism of fire and learns from watching or playing against Jagr that stands him in good stead.

I think it will be really hard for Marc to translate his game from juniors to pro league.
He played almost 40 minutes per one game, he have to adjust his pace in the pro game, hope he can make it.
If he will be able to improve his play during training camp and make the team from the camp, hats off.

From the latest BB entry:

On the blue line, Marc Staal is the player everyone is looking at as a potential NHLer. Despite being taken to school today by Jagr, Staal handled himself well otherwise

Sauer's my sleeper pick to surprise a lot of people in training camp. I'll be interested to hear how he handles the big boys when their teams face off in scrimmages.

Hey guys, it was me who had that odd quote in my signature, haha. I've been gone for 2 mths traveling (mostly in Israel) so I haven't had a chance to write or keep up - however I left during the best, most boring time.

Glad to read all this stuff, glad to be coming back home (after two months away I'm back in a day !!), and hopefully my sig will kick in for the answer to the question about the oddest email. If not, I'll post soon enough from a real computer from the best city on earth, home, NYC.

GO RANGERS!!!

On the money Lev. Who better to learn to be a sgutdown Dman from than the best player on the planet. Staal will learn plenty from Jagr. I'm thinking he starts the year in Hartford and is a call up by midseason. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Could not agree more.

In an organization stuffed with sleepers, Sauer may be the biggest. Again, Hartford bound, but I would not be too surprised to see him called up soon. Maybe even before Staal.....

I agree. I can see that happening, it all depends on who players better in camp, and not who the high pick was. On a different note I think Jessiman is ECHL bound again. That is my gut feeling.

Not sure about echl (that would be......bad), but it is gut check time for Jessiman. Then again, expectations are low. It would be nice to see him exceed them for once.

Leadership school would seem to be officially in session.

And in an interesting play, with a minute left in the contest, Shanahan set up a gimme for Avery for a hat trick, but Avery deflected the puck wide. Chasing it down in the corner, Shanahan rammed into Avery. It sure did not look accidental -- it looked like a "How can you have missed that pass?" hit.

Shanny is dead serious, which is just great to see this early on.

Sauer is a yeara way i eckon but i have high hopes for him, a real talent. Ithink (and hope) he'll have a good camp and be one of the last cuts from camp.

Kos,

Of course there will be an adjustment phase, there is for every player coming into a new league. He has the talent, application and physical tools to do well in this league. The main thing he will need to learn is how to apply himself in this league.

Alot of his development will come through play and on the iec against other teams. I hope he gets big minutes to learn and gain experience in the pre season schedule.

other than maybe Lafleur, and even he might sit on the bench for a exhibition game, i'd be very surprised if any players were cut before the 1st 2 pre season games. Renney and co. will want a good look at most of the camp before he sends people to junior, A, ECHL etc...

Those guys have flown past HJ on the depth chart... especially AA and Pyatt.
Jessiman still has a chance but that chance is getting smaller every day he dopesnt make an impact.

Hmm, I'm an Oilers fan, so not as invested in the players as you guy's obviouslly, but noticed a lot of Betts bashing in this thread. Talking about him as if he's offensivly inept. He put up good #'s in juniors, and even in his 2nd year in the AHL put up an impressive 20 goals, 29 assists in 67 games.

To me this looks like a guy that may just still have something in him and hasn't felt comfortable/confident enough at the NHL level as of yet. I'm going to lay on the line a 30 point prediction for him right now for this year.
