Daigle was a reclamation project...

Brendl would be my pick.

Draft -- Ryan Sittler

Trade/Signing -- Ververgaert, Brendl, Dopita, Gratton, Hackett.

Trade- Mark Pederson, gilbert dione who i have no idea why he faltered, had the skill just couldnt put it together. paul coffey

The Darren Rumbles and Claude Boivins of the hockey world.

I look at busts as those who failed to meet high expectations and that was Sittler, considering where he was selected, though he seems to be getting his life together after a series of critical encounters with fate.

Kimbi Daniels...I wish I had his frequent flyer miles.

I don't recall Kenney too much but I think he was a 2nd round pick.

Pederson was frustrating to watch.

I posted this back in June.

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t...t=ryan+sittler

I guess the link to the Buffalo newspaper isn't working in that thread but if I find the full article, I'll re-post that link. Sittler is now teaching hockey in Palm Beach, Florida.

I was dissapointed in Ryan Sittler, although from what I understand, injuries were to blame. From a trade standpoint, I was also dissapointed in Pat Falloon. As a free agent, Jiri Dopita really frustrated me.

I got a quick question. Did I imagine the Len Barrie hype? I know a lot of people who don't remember him but I remember all this talk about his junior points when he came here. Didn't know if this is just a "consequence" of past amusement.

I remember him though not strongly. He signed with the Flyers in the middle of a season in the juniors then was promptly shipped back. He led the WHL in scoring one year and had gaudy numbers that led to winning the Bob Clarke Trophy; then again, so did Pavel Brendl down the road. I think Barrie owns a huge spa/hotel/resort -- something like that -- in or around Vancouver, BC, maybe with Rob Blake.

He had legal issues, off-ice, and was picked up by the Flyers. Nothing was expected of him and he delivered that.

I went to a Phantoms game a numbers of years back when he was on the baby Pens. Boy, he certainly heard it from the crowd. He was also just arrested again last month. Why we ever signed that sack of crap at all I'll never know.

Though one could argue that trading your team's best PK (and one of the league's best at the time) for a guy you expect nothing out of is itself a "bust" trade.

As for Hackett, he wasn't much of a bust either as he was never stellar to begin with.

Dopita's a huge bust. He came here highly touted as "the best player not in the NHL," and then went on to show us exactly why he wasn't in the NHL.
