Tony Amonte.

He was suppose to be the icing on the cake that we never got to eat.

I agree. I think this guy gets a total raw deal here. It was purely the fans and the organiztion having too high of expectations for this guy. He was, at the time, esactly what he was, a good 2nd line center. He had 62 points, which matched the year before and ended up playing out of position a bit as you said. Plus, this was part of the Flyers never ending search for a 2nd line in the 90s. They just could never seem to get the right pieces to fit together.

Well said, I'll go with Dopita. Was supposed to be the best player "not already in the NHL. He teased and showed flashes...which makes his stay here even more disappointing.

No because he'll be back this season.

Beside the mentioned names - John Carter - who didn't play another game after being drafted.
Edit. The Next year.

yeah but we traded Kent Manderville for him, he was a hard working player for us, and we traded him for that sack of **** Billy Tibbetts.
arguable one of the worst trades Clarke has made. IMO

I think that was the day before the Oates trade, too. Wasn't Manderville a healthy scratch a few times under Barber, though?

I never had a problem with the Oates deal and it isn't like Washington profited from their bounty. Clarke was up against the wall not really knowing the status of Roenick and Primeau, the PP was in a state of flux, and the trade deadline was in his face. Oates was fourth or fifth at the time of the trade in points so it wasn't like he was a has-been.

IIRC, too, the game that Roenick was injured, a knee, the Flyers blew something like a 3-goal lead at home to Tampa Bay and it was in the middle of a mini slump.

If I recall correctly, too, the game that Roenick was injured, a knee, the Flyers blew something like a 3-goal lead at home to Tampa Bay and it was in the middle of a mini slump.
exactly. with the situation we were in,( I think Marty Murray was inline to be the #1 center) the Flyers were going to have to "pay" for a first line center. At the time the deal looked horrible and even after the season ended that year it looked horrible. But it was something the Flyers had to do. Any GM would have taken advantage of the situation at the time
If I am not mistaken Adam Oates was leading the NHL in assists at the time of the trade.

Zelepukin was serviceable while he was here. Nothing great but a solid 3rd liner.
