Order of finish in Central

1.Blues- Call me an optimist, but this is the year(Thank you Andy Murray)
2.Wings-(Too bad they won't fall farther)
3.Preds-(Hope they enjoyed the last few years cause now it's gonna be awhile)
4.Jackets-(Hitch can get this team above the Hawks, but thats it)
5.Hawks-(This team can't buy a clue)

interested to hear what you guys think

1. wings - as much as i'd love to see the blues on top, i don't see the wings dropping.
2. blues - we're gonna be the talk of the league this year
3. nash - they lost some key guys but should still have a decent year. look for radulov to explode.
4. hawks - there is loads of young offense waiting to bust out this year. plus, adding lang will boost the O even further.
5. blue jackets - this is the team that i see as clueless.

Wings
Blues
Hawks
Nashville
Columbus

The bottom 3 don't matter much, won't make the playoffs. We are going to pound Nashville every game I guarantee it, after last season. Unless that team can somehow get a big chip on their shoulder and fight back from being gutted by ownership, they may be a heartless team this season.

I think the Blues are the most physical team in the division now, and we finally have some skill to go with it. Paul Kariya alone should account for at least 60 new goals, not counting current Blues who may improve. If we can pound teams physically, especially in our own end offense will follow and we could finish 1st. I expect some game like from times of old. I predict a goalie fight against Detroit or Chicago this year.

Rucinsky
Cajanek
Boyes
Weight
McClement

These are physical forwards?

Tkachuk - fine
Stemp - I think its going to backfire, but sure
Backes - yep
Hinote - he better
Mayers - ditto
Rj - not his forte

I don't want to go through the rest of the league or even the conference but that teams does not put the Flyers line of yesteryear to shame.

Central finish
1. Detroit (I hate them)
2. Chicago (I think they will be the talk of the league if Khabibulin can return to form)
3. St. Louis
.
.
.
4. Nashville (let the spiral continue)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
5. Columbus (spinning in circles, but in 10 years I bet we are looking at another Senators or Lightning like franchise)

I hope the NW pound each other senseless enough that St. Louis squeaks in at 8th but I'm not counting on it.

Red Wings - They ALWAYS find a way
Nash - Lost some talent, but still will be tough
Jackets - On the upswing
Blues - On the upswing also, but not quite there
Hawks - As noted before, this francise doesn't have a clue. They'll trade anyone that starts to come on.

1. Detroit
2. Nashville
3. Blues
4. Chicago
5. Columbus

We might beat out Nashville, but I'm not totally convinced we will.

1st - Wings - Still the king of the division (plus last year I picked Nashville and they fell through)
2nd - Preds - Losses won't hurt them that bad, still a very young and dangerous team.
3rd - Blues - Fringe playoff team, should finish 7th-10th. Any injury to a top 6 forward will be devistating.
4th - Chicago - Youngsters bring the fire. Will be a team that will be red hot or ice cold. If everything goes well, could challenge Blues and Preds.
5th - Columbus. Eventually everything will come together, just not this year.

I was thinking Backes, Hinote, RJ, Mayers Tkachuk, King*, McClement, Jackman, McKee, Salvador, Walker*. These guys are all strong and AM will everybody finishing their checks hopefully.

* I don't think both will make it.

3. Nashville
4. Chicago
5. Columbus

I think you can really put any combination of St. Louis, Nashville, and Chicago in the 2-3-4 spots. There is no way Columbus finishes any higher this year. The offense looks good. Their defense corps after Foote and Klesla leaves a lot to be desired. Their goaltending looks to be serviceable at best. Sorry, i'm not quite sold on a tandem of Pascal Leclaire and Frederick Norrena.

Every year, I pick Detroit to finish 2nd due to age and losses of key vets. Every year I have been wrong.

1. Detroit
2. Nash/St. Louis
3. St. Louis/Nash
4. Chicago
5. Columbus

I don't think Columbus is going to be as bad as most are predicting. We shall see - can't wait to the season starts.

Wings (first-but lose to lower-rated team in playoffs) 108pts
Blues-97pts.
Preds-82pt
Hawks-81pts
Bluejackets-75pts

Blues year to take first is 2008-09

As long as GM like Holland and coach like Babcock is around, Detroit will always be number 1 team. Unless Detroit somehow manage to lose all of their key players all at once.

Go wings.

Some of you guys are putting a lot on kariya. hes good, but not one player can put you through to the playoffs. good luck. have famly there and plan on seeing a few games there. preds wont be as dominant of you this year, but we will still have your number. see you nov 19th.

1.detroit
2.nash
3.chicago
4.st.louis
5. that other team

hope the blues dont turn into the hawks and suck all year til the last month, then play well because it doesnt matter. looks like that last year. usually just get hopes up, and messes with draft pick.
but seriously, good luck this year. only a few more days left.

I think St. Louis is heading in the right direction, but I don't think they're quite there yet. Another year or two and I think they'll be back up in 100 point territory. This year, I'd say they've got a good shot at one of the bottom 4 playoff slots. It helps that the division is atrocious this year.

Chicago's hopes rest on the two laziest players on the planet in Lang and Samsonov (Lang will suck the life out of their power play, and he'll continue to hand the puck over to the opposition on 5 on 3s, while under absolutely no pressure, handling the puck in the offensive zone...). Toews looks good, but Kane is a couple years away from being physically ready for the NHL. Not looking good for the Hawks.

Nashville has flushed their team down the toilet, slash and burn style. They're going to be bad this year, and probably worse after that. No Sullivan, no Hartnell, no Timonen, no Vokoun, no Kariya. No chance.

Columbus still hasn't figured out that they need to start in net and build forward, and not the other way around. Until they find a decent goalie and get 3 or 4 solid defensemen, it's going to be really tough for them to go anywhere.

Detroit may turn out to be a bit better than last year, actually. Maybe not points-wise, but they could be a more effective team overall, if that makes sense. Many of us thought that Lang in particular was hurting, not helping the team with his million and a half turnovers and really, really slow/lazy play. Bertuzzi didn't help either, and Calder helped for a couple weeks and then faded completely. The Wings need to get quicker and hungrier, and they're giving a bunch of kids a chance to step it up this year. Also I think the Rafalski for Schneider swap is at least even for the Wings - Schneider has the bigger shot but Rafalski is way, way better defensively. Could be some growing pains with the kids, but by the end of the year if the kids step up they could be better than last year.

I think the Wings finish 1st with about 110 points, if only because the division is in shambles.

I think the Blues finish 2nd with about 95 points.

I think the Preds finish 3rd with 80 points.

I think the Jackets finish 4th with 70 points.

I think the Hawks finish last with 65 points.

Disclaimer - I didn't come here to troll or anything, I was actually looking for info on why the Blues didn't sign Scott Jackson, saw the thread, and thought it was a good topic.

He wasn't signed because he didn't progress as expected, and the Blues already had a glut of defensemen they wanted to develop; they thought for the time and effort it would take for Jackson to get to be adequate, they could use that time and effort polishing a guy like Hellstrom, Wagner, or Polak.

Posting over here doesn't make you a troll, mindless blabber mocking us would make you a troll. Your post was thought out, which is fine.

Although most of us probably skipped it since you Wing fans have never known what you were talking about.

nice to see a lot of non-homer posts in this thread. Preds will not be nearly the team they were last year but they wont suck unless there are several overlapping injuries on the top lines. Barring your own injury bug, you guys should be battling along with us for a 6-8 spot, methinks(Wings will unfortunately win the division once again). Hope we both make it, honestly.... getting sick of everyone else saying the only reason the Preds did anything the last 2 years was because the Central stunk.

1. Red Wings: depth, culture
2. Blues. Mix of vets and youth, expectations from the top down.
3. Predators. Too easy to blame ownership for not winning the hard ones.
4T. Hawks and Jackets. Better, but a steep learning curve for youngsters that must be relied on.

Avast ye, and shiver me timbers! (seems an appropriate response since it's Talk Like a Pirate Day...)

Seriously though, you can usually count on at least one or two idiot fans getting all protective and nasty if their board is invaded, no matter the board, and no matter the nature of the invader. So it's usually not a bad idea to put a disclaimer on there when you're in enemy territory.

We've learned little so far. We knew The Wings would run away with the race and there'd be a jam up for places 2-5. Two through 5 can easily still be any of those teams.
