Marion, the highest paid Suns player, has two years remaining on his maximum-level contract - $16.4 million for this year and a $17.8 million salary if he did not opt out before the 2008-09 season. He said the Suns' unwillingness to extend his deal is "only a part of why" he wants to leave but would not confirm that he has asked for a three-year, $60 million extension, saying, "The numbers aren't important."
I've never been a Marion fan at his salary and my first instinct reading this article was not favorable towards him. Yet this story just has my spidey-senses tingling.
The flow of the article at first seems to focus on Shawn's viewpoint. But even with all the quotes attributed to him--and lack thereof from the Suns--the overall tenor seems to be more like something written by the Suns front office laying the reasons why he's going to be traded.

Marion has detracted and hurt the Suns just as much as he has helped. He has some sort of inferiority complex or dire need for attention. In the book 7 seconds or less they talk a lot about how he needs special attention and praise over the other players in order to keep him happy and massage his ego, because it is very very fragile. He is like a giant kid too, he acts like he, he watches cartoons etc... I think something is just strange. He is one hell of a ball player and could command something really special in a trade.
No way in hell does he deserve 20 mil. He'd be the highest paid player on the team. He actually is now. He is the 100% perfect suns player on the court but off it he can be a real cancer.
Honestly... Kirilenko might be a good player but nobody in the NBA is going to fill a hole that Marion leaves. Kinda strange how players play here and develop this inferiority complex to Nash and Amare, like Johnson and Marion. Hell Joe Johnson wanted to go to the Hawks. They should have declared him mentally unstable on the spot!
Marion needs to suck it up and try and win a title, he's got two years left on his deal. I expected this to be coming from him next year not this year.
If he forces the issue and demands a trade, I would rather get something like Lamar Odom and Brian Cook then AK47. That's 2 big men that can help us and Odom is very talented and can score and create his own shot.
Plus we can whoop on Marion 4 times a year and bounce him out of the playoffs.
We have already lost the series to Pittsburgh. Livan Hernandez can not last a game without giving up the long ball. Does he think is funny or something?

I would really be fine with any big guy. Just look at Tim Thomas, Boris Diaw, and Raja Bell. I didn't even know who they are before they came here. Now once they are here all of a sudden they are stars with the national media.
Well looks like The DBacks are falling apart. Thank god the SD isn't playing well either. About 2 weeks ago it looked all but wrapped up as either the NL west winer or wildcard. Now i'm not so sure.
One blessing is that SD is playing MIL all weekend and MIL is also fighting for their lifes, IF they go 2-2 I think were safe as long as we win one from COL and I doubt with Webby on the mound we can loose.

That is a jinx if I ever heard one....you have to remember that Colorado is also fighting for their lives.
While watching the Diamondbacks game they said that the whole Phoenix Coyote team is at the game at the captains expense. He wanted to make sure they could go and support the Dbacks since they were there anyway for tomorrows game!!!

That was a great game tonight. It was funny that they didn't know that they didn't know the Mets game was over, so they didn't know they were in the playoffs until Melvin came out to them screaming.
I wish Tony Clark would get some sort of award. I remember the team was falling apart and he kept motivating them and mentoring the kids. And then when it mattered most he would step up with a home run or a clutch hit. I am glad they made it if not just for his sake.
Congrats to the D'Backs! To come into Colorado and beat the hottest team in baseball over the last few weeks is a big statement. Here's to making some noise in the playoffs!!!!
By the way...Tod Walsh mentioned that the entire Phoenix Coyotes team was in attendance. He added, "thanks to Shane Doan". What a great thing for the young Yotes to see! Hopefully Doaner is able to convey the message that a strong "team" doesn't have to be the best statistically, or the best on paper to make some noise.
