I don't get it. How can having Sundin or Gaborik be bad for this team? Sundin comes at NO COST. Gaborik might cost 2 roster players, but unless it's Tanguay, Koivu, Kovy, Markov, Hammer or AK, he's worth it. Yes, you read right: Gaborik is worth any two players on this team not listed in in my previous sentence.
Not that I think Eklund has any clue, but god that would be awesome
Because there is no point in getting Gaborik. We already have enough wingers as it is. This same team, minus Tanguay and Lang, scored 257 goals last year. The X factor is on the backend, Streit. If they are going to give up prospects for a player, get Bouwmeester.

Eklund knows absolutely NOTHING!!!!! He is never even close when it comes to free agents so why would anybody think that there might be any truth to this bull**** story?????

So you'd therefore be willing to give up Sergei Kostitsyn and Christopher Higgins for a UFA in Gaborik. Not only does that sound like a terrible deal but it likely would mean AK wouldn't be as happy here then before.
Like I said, it's a re-hash of old rumors, because our team isn't doing so hot. Forget this.
I bet his site is not doing so hot either this time of year, so he talks about the habs and then gets one of his little lackies to post about it on hfboards.
The only way I'd take Gaborik was if it was cheap, no away in hell I trade more than a 1st and a B prospect for him. He's a UFA after the season and is always injured. He's not a guy I'd want to sign long term anyways so it would only be a rental.
1st plus Carle/Weber
Here are his last 4 seasons...
65 GP out of 82
48 GP out of 82
77 GP out of 82
so far this year, 2 games played in around 23.
That's an average of 63 games a year and that will go down as the max he can play this year is like 61.

The only roster players I'd trade for him Minny would not want. He is too injury prone, for the money he makes he'd have to be awful cheap...fits under the same category as Havlat.
No way in hell I'd trade Lats and S.Kost for this guy.

Yes, we exchange notes each morning over a mug of coffee.
I think whichever team gives up anything of substance for Gaborik is taking a HUGE risk. I don't know how anybody can think he's any better than 50/50 to even play for them in the games between his acquisition and the time he hits free agency. With that kind of gamble involved, I'd think the offers ought to be very low, and that therefore Minnesota might just as well stick with the gamble themselves.
