1-1 after 2 periods.

There are NO excuses if the Oilers lose tonight. That was a bad one by Ty, but you don't win too many games in this league 1-0.

Oilers look like they are losing their confidence in that period. I feel if they score one..........they will really throw an onslaught of offense on the Isles for the rest of the game. It's just getting that next one. They didn't really "buzz the Isles net" for the rest of the period after Conks bad goal.

Although Hemsky is young (with a ton of talent) and only getting 4th line minutes...........his dipsy is starting to lose it's doodle. He's gotta get his legs moving more than he has lately. Want the puck more. Another season of experience and another 10 pounds will do wonders for this kid.

Really disapointing goal let in by Conks.. he just made a couple awesome saves and it seemed like the Oilers had weathered the storm till he let in that long one! I'm hoping they really come out hard this period.. they need to get some more shots on DiPietro, he's looked shaky thus far IMO.

There's no way I'm blaming Conks when the Oilers have been outshot 20-13

I'd rather be tied 1-1 with the other team's goal coming from outside the blueline than be down 5-0 after the first period at home, eh Leaf fans? !

Oilers look sluggish. The PP's in fine form. To many passes on the outside, not enough shots. ANd when there is actually of shot from the D, it's not even on net.

Meaning from the coaches' standpoint of playing him lots to get him back into a groove sooner rather than later, which we may or may not agree with.

Another brilliant prediction down the tubes...

Conklin made some good saves early, but that blue line shot was a tough one to let in. However, it's pretty clear that Ty stays on his feet much more than Tommy when the action heats up in tight.

Life lesson for Hemsky. When he said he lost 10 pounds during the summer I thought he would wear down. Looks like it is coming true.
It's not like he was 215 to begin with!!

The Oilers should write a book called:

"How Not To Score On The Powerplay" by The Edmonton Oilers

Sheesh.

Followed by:

"How To Take A Stupid Penalty Just When You Don't Need It"

so much for that goal

Conklin tries too much there and ends up costing the oilers the tie

Smyth with a STUPID penalty, no hustle to the boards or that puck is out easy, no defensive coverage either, D-men standing there watching things.

The team quit as soon as the Oilers scored their 2nd goal. How pathetic.

Ty didn't play a great game, but was decent enough. I think the game was epitomized by his absolute robbery on the intial play that resulted in the 2nd goal. He robbed the shooter on a fantastic save, then Semenov was lazy with his positioning, and no one picked up Papineau.

No excuse for losing this one.

Its all over 3-2.

Smyth took a selfish penalty and the Oilers got punished with less than two minutes to go while on the penalty kill.

Should have got 1 point from this game. Oh well Smyth can take out all his frustration on Comrie !

The ref's handed the Islanders that game. You don't call that crap with less than 2 minutes to go in a 2-2 game. Brutal.

Ryan Smyth continues to dissapoint. Talk about a brutal penalty... 2-2 with less than 2 mins to go in an important game and he feels the need to run a guy from behin at center ice. Then he gives the puck away with 30 seconds left on a break in. This guy is a junk player and needs to leave. He is becoming so invisible it is disgusting and his line has contributed almost nothing all year. Get omeone in here with a desire to play the game because Smyth has obviously lost that and really that was all he had going for him.

I think Conklin had a lot to do with that goal as well.. he tried to clear the puck out of the zone when there was a winger and d-man already flush on the boards. There was almost no way he was going to get that puck out, he should have played it into the corner.. he didn't and thus the Oilers players were forced to scramble back into position and Papineau was left open for the shot..

Bad play by Conks.

Not enough urgency by the team.

Notice 5 forwards on the ice when Conks was pulled? Oates wasn't one of them.

They played like a team that was high on recent success. This team always seems to get burned this way. Flippin ground hog day.
