ANAHEIM - Neither the Kings nor Mighty Ducks were happy with Wednesday's 4-4 tie in front of a sellout crowd of 17,174 at the Pond. But the Kings had bigger things on their minds after leading scorer Ziggy Palffy was injured halfway through the overtime period.
Ducks defenseman Todd Simpson pulled on Palffy's stick and Palffy went off the ice and to the locker room. He left the Pond with his right arm in a sling.
"We're not sure what it is right now," Kings coach Andy Murray said.
Palffy, who leads the Kings with 16 goals and 41 points, will be re-examined today. Palffy is tied for seventh in the league in scoring.
..if it's in a sling it's probably his shoulder. i really hope it's nothing too serious. i guess all you can do is wait and see if he plays tonight. has anyone been called up from manchester??
Nothing reported by Monarchs yet. They'd need to be in-the-air from Manchester by now to be in LA in time for tonight's game. My past experience in these situations is that when the Kings are at home and a top player is questionable, the announcement comes late. Game day ticket sales maybe, not sure.
