You do know he's more then likely watching from the press box, right? We've still got 6 defencemen that Quinn will play ahead of him. I would like to see him get in so we can get a little look at how he's come along but I very much doubt that's going to happen barring a injury before the game to one of the 6 remaining defencemen.

Can you give me a little insight as to what's so special about Hedin?

The way things are going, it really wouldn't surprise me to see a defenseman drop in the pre-game warmup, opening a spot for Hedin.

Seriously how long before we see a Pro Line commercial become reality at a real leaf game?

He very easily could dress.

Jackman will dress, but has played forward before, and so if Hedin dressed as the 7th. d-man he could still see some ice time.

Well, he's a great offensive defenseman.

Great skater, great vision, pretty good in his own end, etc...

What's not to like... ?

He's also succeeded at every level... one of the top defensemen in the Swedish League last year... former WJC all-star... shining brightly in the AHL.

Well, he's made it to the NHL after 35 (or so) games in North America. This for an offensive European defenseman is quite an accomplishment.

One thing that is crazy, is that I've got a hockey card of his (thanks mack), that says Pierre Hedin "is expected to be the next great Swedish defenseman".

How has he mde the NHL? He is called up for reserves most likely. Has Wellwood made the NHL or Leeb? Just ask Druken if being called up has earned him a spot in the NHL. I understand you like the guy and all but come on, getting called up does not mean that he has made it.

Can he be any more worse than Richard Jackman?

According to a certain Toronto newspaper his real name is Pierre Sedin......

He's made it TO the NHL.

Proving that he's good enough at the AHL level to play in the NHL in the near future.

You need to stop grabbing for straws. Has Leeb and Wellwood made it to the NHL as well? They all were called up. Ask anyone if getting a callup means that they have made the NHL and you will be laughed at. The guy was asking a serious question and you replied with a misnomer.

This was the guy's quote.

Your answer to this is that he HAS made it? Let me stress, getting a callup does NOT mean that you have made the NHL. Just ask the many thousands of kids that have had callups and not stuck around.

There's a difference between making it TO the NHL and make the NHL. I said he's made it TO the NHL... as in he's adjusted rather well to the North American game.

He may never play in the NHL after his current stint... he may become an NHL regular... or he may turn out to become a perrenial Norris winner (unlikely, very unlikely).

Nice try but still no go. I imagine you knew what he meant by asking if he will ever make to the NHL as opposed to will he ever get a callup to the NHL.

I have no idea. All I know is that you are misleading in your postings....at least in this thread.

How?

His question...

My answer...

There's nothing in my response that's misleading.

He's made it to the NHL (from the AHL) after 35 games or so in North America. Not many offensive defensemen that move over from Europe get a call up to the NHL after only half a season in the minors, he's adjusted well to the North American game.

And for the hockey card thing... that was just a fact that I wanted to share... I was pointing out that Hedin was expected to become a very good defenseman at the age of 18.

What is misleading is that he hasn't made it to the NHL yet. Getting called up because of injuries does not mean that you have finally made the NHL after all those years of trying. If you can't see that then I am no longer going to argue the point with you. You seem set in your thinking anyway.

Oh I realize that... but my point was that he's adjusted... and has been one of the best defensemen on St. Johns. This after many thought he'd flop after moving over the pond.

I agree that he's got to play in the NHL in order to "make it"... but he's been good enough over those 35 games that Shedden and Penny have advised Ferguson to call him up.
