From Sam:

Quote:
- Al Montoya and Stephen Valiquette will split goaltending duties tonight, with Montoya playing the first half and Valiquette the second.

- Fedor Tyutin, originally scheduled to play, is out tonight with the flu. Marc Staal will take his place. The forward lines are the same.

Nice to see Staal getting a shot tonight. Wonder if he will play tomorrow as well?

I still think there should be a section of people at MSG behind the visiting bench, in curly wigs, and dark rimmed glasses, calling themselves the Pidtophiles. - Zamboner

If you're either Jessiman or Lessard, you've got to be looking to drop the gloves on every shift. This is their best chance for getting a call up in the season if Orr is hurt or suspended (more likely). I'm sure the Devils have players in similar situations so we should see some fisticuffs. What I really don't want to see is any knee on knee or boarding hits.

I wonder if Staal will play with Girardi? Looking at the defense, there ain't a whole lot of offensive capability there tonight.

It's on MSG. MSG is also running and hour-long season preview leading up to the game. The preview starts at 6.

4 pages for a pre season game already. Hockey is back.

Good to see Staal get a chance tonight, hopefully he plays solid.

(also, tonight the Rangers are on at the same time as the Yanks - not many paying attention today - tomorrow the Yanks are on in the afternoon - wonder if Renney thought that through).
Are the Rangers also on TV Saturday night? I will be very interested in the Jagr/Gomez combo and also if the Flyers keep up with this old Broad Street Bully mentality they seem to be using in pre-season.

I'm having trouble thinking about anything other than the game tonight.

Laughably pathetic.

From Zipay:

Quote:
Defenseman Marc Staal will play tonight against the Devils because Fedor Tyutin has the flu...The lines will remain the same as reported here yesterday; the d-pairs will be Girardi-Sauer, Kasparaitis-Hutchinson, Strudwick-Staal...Al Montoya is expected to play the first half of the game; Steve Valiquette the second...

Strudwick? Ick. Maybe that means he's playing on Saturday.

Excellent. I'm glad that I'm less obsessed than at least one person I think if I stayed home, it would take FOREVER for 7:00 to arrive.

I just looked at the clock and didn't think - it is only 1 hour to go home. I thought - it is only 3 hours to game time!!!

WHEW-HEW!!!
