Hasek Not Improving

Both Detroit newspapers are reporting that Hasek has been ordered by the Wings not do ANY type of workouts for two weeks as his groin is not responding to treatment. That means he can't even resume skating until then which probably means he won't be back for another month, minimum.

Quite a turn of events in the Hasek/Joseph soap opera. Now by the time Hasek comes back, he will likely have to unseat Joseph and prove to the Wings that he's healthy and can play in the playoffs. Of course this also means that the Wings will almost surely keep CuJo.

Forgotten amidst all this is poor Manny Legace. Wish the Wings would at least give him a chance to take the ball and run with it. Legace has been a complete class act throughout this ordeal, it's too bad he's third in line.

Agreed. Cujo has taken the high road since this whole thing began, was sent to the AHL and didn't complain, and then with Hasek injured they come rushing back to him for him to play and he doesn't shove it in anyones face, just goes and does his job and does it well.

Interesting how the goalies that were put on waivers are playing well right now (Cujo, Boucher).

I sense sarcasm in this statement.

Gets to collect $6 million, has a NTC, and gets to sit on his ass, sounds like a sweet deal if you're Hasek.

It's amazing how opinions change now that Cujo's playing well. It's tempting to drag out posts from November on Wing's fans comments about him.

As soon as his comeback was announced I thought that the Wings were making a mistake.

This town is normally brutal on QB's and goalies, fans would have no qualms about running a goalie out of town (ie, if Hasek didn't win the SC in 2002, the fans would've said the same thing about him that they do/did about Cujo, "oh, he can't win the big games"and call him something like Hasuck, even though it's still a team sport, the goalie still gets the brunt of the abuse).

Speak for yourself, some of us in Toronto love Cujo.
And in this instance one can go back in the posts history and find someone defending Cujo.

Absolutely. I'm new to this board and I spent a lot of time reading plenty of old threads before I ever made a post and the things written about Cujo were brutal.

i never liked cujo until he was here, then i hated him again when he didnt do much last year. Last year he played like a goalie who figured the rest of his team would do the work and he could sit back and relax. This year he's playing like he should. Hasek came in and cujo's had to prove he's the number 1 guy and he's doing a good job of it. Maybe all he needed was someone to try to fight him for the number 1 spot. Glad to see cujo's playing good ofcourse. Hopfully manny can get into a few games.

It was a joke... I guess the " " wasn't enough...

I don't even live near Toronto, and I don't hate Cujo.

Toronto fans have every right in the world to not like Cujo, so I thought it would be funny to reference that fact.

I know, I'm merely commenting there are still some of us in Toronto that have fully kept the love for Cujo.

One thing about Cujo though is that he's a goalie that very much NEEDS a lot of work to be at his best.
If Cujo wasn't able to play almost every game and get 30+ shots/night then he would start to falter.

The less work he saw the less effective he was in net.
In Toronto that was never a problem as we never had the best of defences in front of him, and were always willing to give him the majority of games.

With the Wings they've got one of the best backups around in Legace, plus an extremely good defence not to mention a perennial Norris winner in Lidstrom.

I agree completely. I've always been appreciative of Cujo's contributions to the Leaf renaissance after 1998, and it was sad to see him go. Joseph is a workhorse who thrives on getting hung out to dry by his defence and getting 40 shots a night.

I hope Joseph sticks it to the Wings first chance he gets and high tails out of Motown. Management has treated him poorly, and they don't deserve better.

Funny you say that. I never liked him here, but I always repected him ... even more so, with what he is going through. His behavior is great (Took a pageout Potvin's book )

I always have a soft-spot for underdogs (no pun intended)
