To be fair if that had happened to a Flyer I'd expect everyone to beat on the perp. Downie ****ed him up.

You don't F with Steve Downie...they were planting him into the boards...he had enough. At least he didn't go crazy like some might think he might...I think he sent a message.

Hope former Flyer Dean is ok...

Give me a break. I'm flying blind here. All I heard was Downie's name, mayhem, and boos.

This is the sole reason why Downie doesn't have a spot on the team. He was on the team before this, he is no longer.

Wasn't late and wasn't any different than that ****er Armstrong does in Pittsburgh 3 times a week. Charging, obviously, he jumped at him.

McGrattan better be out for third man in. I'm pretty pissed about that. Big tough guy.

Charging and leaving your feet are penalties, plus he used the net as a 'blind' - while not illegal - but certainly a vicious cheap shot.

5 minutes and a match penalty. Seems the refs thought it was a penalty.

Why? Downie's a lot of things, but he's not a dirty hitter. I've never seen him do that, this is NOT a part of his reputation or a part of his lack of maturity in certain aspects.

The hit was not late...but it did look like he jumped which isn't cool. Had he kept his feet on the ice it is a fine hit. Just because someone got hurt and was admiring there pass doesn't automatically make it a dirty play. But yeah I think he did jump which is the problem.
